I have taken a watch for my wife as a gift and plan to give her in singapore.
If i packed that in a gift, will i be questioned at airport? Either in india or singapore?

Or i should take it as direct without gift

Take it without outerbox in your cabin carry bag.

Alternately you can give her surprise by buying watch from there with box.

So you are carrying it from India on your outbound travel?

Would help to declare any high end, high value items to Indian customs if one intends to carry them back to India at a latter stage.

Depending on the value of the item, https://www.changiairport.com/en/airport-guide/arriving/dutiable-and-prohibited-items.html Singapore customs would not levy any fees or taxes.

In matters of even GST reimbursement, our experience with Singapore has been great.
Without specifically asking for it or filling any forms, once the officers themselves did the needful when they saw that the local shop charged us GST as usual
but now the goods were being taken out in less than 48 hours of that sale.

you can turn off the watch, pack it as a gift and have it in your checked-in luggage and nothing will be asked unless the watch turns on itself and produces loud tick-tick noise 😄 (just kidding)

Bro, give it to her while going only.  You will have a better trip. smile
