Switching on the laptop without opening the lid.

I have this ThinkPad E14 laptop connected to an external monitor, and every time I have to open the lid to press the power button to turn on the laptop, it's discomforting sometimes as it's kept in the extreme corner. I wonder if there's any workaround where I can remotely turn it on without opening the laptop lid. Any ideas on how this can be achieved?

Go into the BIOS/UEFI set-up. Under "Power Management" there should be a "Wake on AC". Enable it.
What that means is that the moment you switch on the power adapter connected to your laptop, the laptop will boot up. I am typing this on a monitor connected to an IBM ThinkPad with its lid shut 😊

Wake on Ethernet or WLAN. Didn't have success with the latter. Apparently the Qualcomm Atheros Wifi chip from 2018 wasn't compatible or something.

P.S. Why keep the lid closed in this scenario? It will result in worse thermals and increased wear and tear of the hinges.

Wake on seems not working for me; I have bought the vertical laptop stand (saves space) where stands right up hence the lid is closed.

Did you enable the appropriate option in the  BIOS/UEFI?
