Local electronic shops repair them for cheap. 🙂
While generally it now is a reality that they don't make people or products which are meant to last
or even take half as much stress as those in the past
the actual Phoebus cartel has been LONG dead.
This is not to say that generally people, relationships, processes, products are getting any better.
As we can see, people break down faster. Relationships break down even faster and so do processes, products.
In general, now we too live in an era of the snowflake generation.
The generation of 'instant gratification' and we will rather move on, than wait.
Long format content, reporting, videos has gradually given way to 'seemingly' obnoxious, futile 'shorts, stories, statuses and so on.
Lifespan of EVERYthing is getting shorter, I guess.
This (products having shorter life cycles) to me, merely seems like an effect, not a cause.
Good info brother

The (light emitting) diode (if properly built) would have almost unending lifespan.
It is the drivers (PCB/circuitary) which fail most of the time.
.
The ratings, in the world of less innovation and more dependence on contract manufacturing (China), barely make for a strong case to choose one over the another.
Product differentiation is gone.
But still, instead of pure trading brands (like Syska, Bajaj electricals, others).. it might be better to buy a product from some company which still has an in-house R&D team.
Philips, despite outsourcing to China, might still have tighter control on the product.
Other companies too are there, but costlier than Philips.
.
Else if okay to keep up with the me too (reverse engineered copies) then all importer traders like Syska, Bajaj and others are there.
Wipro's lighting division too has some in-house R&D, even though importing a lot of their product lines.

Bhau, do they still do this ?
Long back when LED bulbs were introduced in market, when the prices used to like 500+ in general, then they used to repair... nowadays the prices are pretty low, and mostly the driver is the culprit (using cheap electronics), so not sure if they still do it... and any rough estimate how much they charge and how long does it last ?

Crompton Lyor
I bought them in Dec 2020, they are still working fine (they were 5 star back then, but I think BIS ratings changed after that) I bought 8W bulbs
How ever Havells 4star bulbs which bought around 1.25 years back started failing.
Now I can see only Crompton 10W bulbs 4 star, I am also looking for 5 star LED, but could not find anything.
I am looking at Cropton Lyor or Philips Eco full glass(thought of giving a try)
If you can get Philips Dubai Lamps from someone, they work great it seems

They wont last more than 30 days
I bought Eveready led bulbs , they got dead in 3-4 months, as they were under warranty, i approached service centre ,they told me to courier to their place and they will send me new ones.
I did, and got the new one's too ,and again that won't last for more than 6 months.
I found that cost of shipping is too high and m spending almost the cost of bulb.
So i stopped getting ot exchanged.
This is a consumer market, all are running after profits, no promises kept by any company.
Havels has the same story too.
saw this article... true ... so much failure rate in new bulbs!
if i remember correctly, once upon a time they used to make bulbs which lasts 100 of years (one of them still working google it) but then 1929 recession came and by law US or their companies decided to not make things which lasts so long otherwise after a time they cant sell their products at all 😃

I've different brand's LED bulbs like Philips, Eveready, Wipro, Halmax, and a unknown chinese brand.
Most of them are working fine for years.
And if it got faulty, I got it fixed myself by removing the faulty LED. This is the most common fault with LEDs. And it's easily working for months/year.

20 ₹ in my locality (with 3 months warranty )
Buy from dmart, you can get pigeon led bulb and tubelight for cheap and it has 2 years warranty and dmart store instantly replaces in case of warranty claim
in case this makes anybody feel good, Philips was part of that mafia and now they are in decline, they sold all of their business and now only own some sections of it.
Eveready is worst, they don't last long and you don't get any warranty support

In my area i once went to ask the shopkeeper of he repairs , he starred at me and said repairing wala jamana gaya , use and throw ,buy new one . If i ask Rs 50 you will not pay and yourself say in Rs 70 - 80 new will come with warranty .
in mumbai

Then buying such things from Dmart physical store is better.
Or portals like Amazon.
In case of D-mart, they offer ready support/ replacement for such products, if bought from their store and invoice number etcetera is saved by the customer.
Or at-least D-mart used to help. Haven't got much experience after pandemic and after Ukraine-Russia issues.
Bulbs tubelights fans other electronics all used to work for years with guarantee , then came warranty , and now even no value of warranty, these greedy companies charge so much and make substandard products to last little .

Bt, nw, just replace them as prices has reduced.
Purchase LED bulb in bulk during the offer and use them when require.
Availing warranty is really a headache so bulk purchase has no side effect.
Till date, max I have paid Rs.60-65 for Normal bulb (with 2 AA batteries) and Rs.99 for Smart bulb.
very easy, just remove the faulty LED and join it's both points using a soldering iron.
To find a faulty LED, use any Slant Tip Tweezer or one made using any hard metal wire, and touch both sides of LED.
