So, I have this laptop with burnt motherboard and broken display.

Repair costs too high, around 20k + 5k for dissiplay.

Is it possible to salvage some components such as processor,  ram, SSD, and build a desktop PC?

What else do I need to buy besides motherboard, and how much would it cost, minus the monitor since I already have one?

The goal is to make a working system under a minimum budget.

Just yesterday got rid of a 2007 Sony Vaio at Rs 12/kg. The display had gone bad and the liquid in LCD had come out and corroded the motherboard. I did remove the HDD, battery (it was still good with 2 hrs of battery life), RAM and kept the power adapter safe to be sold separately on OLX.

Not worth salvaging that laptop. Would be cheaper to get a new laptop/PC if you want.

So what can I do with it now, just throw it away and buy a new one?

Sell it to some local laptop repair shop, they will use it for spare parts(chips/ICs etc).

yes it can be used only if the processor isn't soldered and you have to buy laptop motherboard again to get it working as processors for laptop and desktops are different

Laptop RAMs and CPUs are not desktop PC compatible. SSD is the only part that can be used in Desktop.
