Help Me Decide Which Home Security Camera To Choose

I had bought a Smitch Smart Cloud/IP/CCTV Camera 2 years back for monitoring my home however the app and connectivity is pathetic. It's fully unreliable and since last month, the app has completely stopped working and the camera is now useless.

I had also bought a TP Link Tapo C210 and it works perfectly with absolutely no issues and a fantastic picture quality with customisable intruder alarm system.

Now to replace the Smitch Camera either I can buy a Cloud camera again or choose a full DVR set. A 2.4MP two camera DVR set from CP Plus is costing approximately ₹4.4k on Amazon whereas a cloud camera from CP Plus is costing ₹1.3k and from Qubo around ₹1.5k.

I realise that there are several benefits of Cloud Camera like AI features, better quality, more value for money, no hassle for wires however the biggest con is that if someone (a thief maybe) is knowledgeable enough, he can destroy or steal the entire module without any trace along with the SD card.

In this case what would you recommend? The DVR cameras also don't have a mic/sound and it's not possible for me to stretch my budget anymore.

In this case what would you recommend for a personal house use? Internet/WiFi availability is not an issue since I have fiber however this time I do not wish to buy a product like Smitch where the company runs away rendering the device useless within a couple of years (my 8 yrs old Tp Link camera still works however the quality is poor as per today's standards else would have used it)

For better cctv performance and no maintenance, go for IP CCTV. These  analog HD cameras which works on DVR are head pain. Too much wiring and connection issues

How you guys got it at 4-5k? I paid almost 10k for the 3 camera+dvr+hdd.

Here’s the price I copied from my bill:

3 cp+ camera premium =3x1350

Dvr=2400

Smps=450

Cable=650

Connection=3x25

Hdd=1400

Installation=3x250
Total: ₹9775

Any cheaper option than this?

Yours is also good price since yours includes installation as well (which I'll do by self) + HDD (which I have extra) + You have premium cameras (mine one is the basic with no mic)

You're right office going people. Also had one theft attempt recently after that installed TP Link Tapo C210 for the main door. Totally value for money serves every purpose it's as if the camera is designed for my needs sweat_smile

However it's a bit costly at ₹2.4k and this time I need an inexpensive second one as a secondary camera

A little bit off topic & Probably I should create my own thread but I see many experts in the comments section. So will quickly ask my question

Can anybody suggest a good baby monitor within budget probably under 3k. I'm no expert when it comes to cctv so any suggestion within my budget will be helpful

Main purpose is to observe baby & if there is two way Mic it would be great (Optional unless in budget). Storage not really necessary can be deleted weekly(or within 2/3days). I also have spare hdd

Op at any point you will I'm invading your post let me know I will delete it.

Thanks pray

You need not go for a dedicated baby camera monitor.

An IP Camera would suit all your needs. I am using a Tapo C210. It has a good 2k Resolution with a 3MP Camera with night vision. The app is extremely good and user friendly. It has all the features you need - 1. Motion Detection 2. Two way communication 3. Storage possibility (need an SD Card you can put an inexpensive 32GB one it'll work fine) 4. Also the app has a "Baby Crying Detection Notification" - check the screenshot from my app.

You can also go with other options however this one is very reliable with no server downtimes or any other connectivity issues.

If there's any doubts regarding this you can ask here as well other dimers who have commented above have a good knowledge too. 😄

Good informative thread. Any suggestion for indoor wifi camera I just need to put one in kitchen. Found Xiaomi in approx 2500, Tapo 2000, IMOU 1500, CP plus 1400.... All of them with wifi, 360 rotate, human detaction, sd card insert option for recording. Seems I am ok with all of these features as no specific req other than reliable live feed.

What I am concerned is warranty service support. Xiaomi has 6 month warranty, rest all have 2 yr warranty. But reviews says very very bad warranty support.

First of all nobody has service center network: cpplus has one in whole delhi, same with tapo tplink, imou has in chennai for whole India.....so rather than spending money in travel 50km in delhi, one can rather buy a new one. Xiaomi has wider service network and nearby but reviews says service center people not trained to repair cameras, and after 6 months warranty if any problem then consider it as dead as Xiaomi only consider in-warranty requests (and for that their engrr not trained).

How is your experience on warranty claims? And is their any easy way to get them repaired. Travelling to 50km away service center in delhi is not advisible option for a rs2000 product.

Please provide your warranty claim experience. Does their service center accept devices via courier?
