Hi guys, 2 laptops and 2 smartphones were stolen and found on same day by offline tracking. Police went to the site and recovered our devices and caught three people. And then registered FIR, mentioning the serial number of each device, we have all the invoice for all devices. The police told these devices have been seized and you will need to contact advocate lawyer to get back your devices and it will take 4-5 days.
However now when we went to advocate, he is asking for 30000 rupees and 3 months time to get back devices.
The total worth is around 1.10 lakhs but my part is only rs 5000/-
We are new to this city(pune) and we dont know any lawyers and any idea how to proceed
Please advise any way out please

try consulting other lawyers of lawyers fraternity or you can ask for documentation required from SHO in written and fulfill by your own.

So suppose I lost my jio phone (1500 rs), And some how police tracked it and recovered it from thief/goons , so now I will have to pay lawyer fees for 1500rs phone?

same this is happening with me, the exchange value for my device is not even 4000/- but the lawyer is asking 30000 ( i.e 10000 per head) and 30 days . feels like even that is not guaranteed !! That's why I am forgetting my device and buying a new phone

Why police seized the Device?
If it's a theft case and u are able to proof that you are the owner, why this legal paper work needed?

Just ask some more lawyers. And it will take some time. But charges should be 500-1000 per hearing. Not more than 3-4k.
