Unreliable online credit card application processes

Hi all,

This month I applied for Kotak league platinum CC, ICICI platinum CC and AU Bank Lit CC, One after another in two weeks gap using respective bank's online application process.

All of these are entry level credit cards and all 3 bank's claim instant approval process.

Kotak cc application is successfully completed along with vKyc but there is no sms/email from bank after vKyc. No status update. Online tracking is not working. Sent mail for the same and bank told to wait for 15 working days to process application!!! Wow 😲

Then applied for ICICI cc online. Aadhar authentication completed but vKyc is not working. Tried twice but same issue both times. Waited for update/follow up from bank, but no sms/email. So sent email along with downloaded application form, bank is asking to send the same details as filled in form to track application. Ridiculous!!! 😐

Then applied for AU Bank Cc, hoping being a new bank, it may have better digital infrastructure (like one card or IDFC first). So expected at least this will be instant approval. Applied online, completed vKyc. Got vKyc completion email and sms. That's it. Nothing after that. So checked by online tracking. Got to know that application status is rejected, (from the day of application itself!!!). They should advertise as instant rejection process instead of approval 😅

Now following up over email for all 3 cards. No success yet.

This is the case for entry level cards with online application process.

This not only frustrates us, but also spoil our cibil score for nothing.

I have cibil score of 775+ and income criteria is also absolutely much higher than they expect for premium cards.

So after going through such frustrated experience, I want to ask all of you, Is there any website which can assist us in online application process with good chances of approval?

Hoping that Websites like Paisa bazaar have tie-ups with banks. So they may be better in following up with banks and make processing faster.

Let me know your inputs on this.

Some public sector banks provide much better application process than this so called private banks..

3 days ago.. received a WhatsApp message from Union Bank of India.. regarding rupay credit card..I thought it's just like a promotional message.. I don't have any hopes..just gave it a try..

*Followed that link , entered otp and basic details

*shown 3 rupay cards with approved limit..

*Selected Rupay platinum card and virtual card generated instantly...

*Linked Rupay credit card in Paytm n did first scan and pay transaction..

No document upload ,No Vkyc ...etc..

All this process took less than 5 minutes..I couldn't believe a public sector bank had this much of smooth digital application process..

I applied for Au Lit and got it approved in 4hrs with no KYC and documents.

I did have an AU zero bal acc from the past 1-2yrs so that weigh in a lot I guess.

Your cibil score is one of the factor. Different Banks may use different criteria to approve credit card.

My cibil score is 812, but my CC application was rejected by sbi(Later the same approved after lot of fight😃).

2 Month before i have applied for Kotak Platinum League CC, after VKYC, card approved immediately, the whole process took not more than 30 mins.

So if you have strong credit history and your salary is well enough, go and escalate till RBI ombudsman level,

Best of luck

Yup. All these banks VKYC is flawed.

In recent times, I applied for federal, IDFC & ICICI. There's lack of complete information on all.

ICICI - Despite having Amazon Pay ICICI card of 6L limit, I am being asked to submit my income proof again and do the VKYC. I did the VKYC and after that I received an SMS saying VKYC isn't complete and I would rather need to give the physical copy to their personnel visiting my address. I asked them to cancel my application.

IDFC - Same. Completed VKYC. The online status says: Application approved but then I received SMS which says VKYC needs to be redone. I ain't wasting more time here.

Federal - Applied and did VKYC. No update since then.

Most pvt banks don't approve cc nowadays if cibil score less than 750.

Most of my credit cards  approved..when my cibil score is around 710.. including hdfc ,Axis etc..

They will consider lot of factors not just the "SCORE"

This new condition seems to have come into effect somewhere in mid/late 2021. Also, pre-approved offers for existing bank acc customers is usually not bound by this condition.

That is usual reason we are told all times. But we don't get information from banks what is good cibil score they expect.

I have good enough score of 775+ with which I got many cards like Regalia, Idfc select, indusind iconia amex, sbi cashback card, etc. Salary is 18 lac+.

So there shouldn't be this reason for these entry level cards. (But they have not asked my income docs till nown for these online applications).

So don't have clue about rejection reason for AU Lit card.

Also other two cards applications have no update from banks whether it is completed or any formality is pending.

I was thinking same. As in offline process, atleast we have contact numbers of agents or managers involved in process. So we can always call them for update.

Looks like we need to apply for zero balance savings account of all such banks to get cards approved online. This is most promising option in order to avoid useless cibil enquiries and lengthy follow-ups with banks 😅
