Do not upgrade, apply separately using referral and get it FYF.
even if already a member..referral will work?
Checked with customer care, my current membership rewards card will become lifetime free as long as I pay annual free for platinum travel card
If you can spend 4lakh on Amex plat travel only then it’s worth considering. And it’s difficult if you’re not in big city. Most of my use is online.
For 4 lakh spend you’ll get 12000 flipkart voucher and 10k taj voucher. Total 22k on spends on 4lakh so a little over 5 percent on any category.
And you can settle the annual fees with regular rewards point you’ve earned for those spend.
Also amex run pretty good offers during festival like 15 rewards point per 100rs which is easily worth around 6% as Amex travel voucher or spend this to get that kind of offer.
If you like to pay card fees then only upgrade, as amex doesn’t waive annual fees for platinum cards
