UPI After changed registered mobile number

Recently, I have changed registered mobile number on HDFC bank account. After changed number, UPI stays active on old mobile number for the same account.
AFAIK, UPI can be enabled on the phone number that is registered in bank account details.
How is that possible?
So HDFC has two number policy? One for linking to upi and another for - OTP and alerts?

UPI ID of Gpay in format <Email Username>@okicici here mobile no. is not in UPI id

HDFC has this error. I also faced such error long ago where bank officials were also unfamiliar with this kind of situation.
I think after long time, I was able to register It on new number
It is a common issue, you can use two numbers for the same account until the sim is removed or uninstallation of the app.

Looks you are confused with UPI address and registered mobile number with your bank.
As you changed your old mobile number to new number the upi address will be in many app oldmobilenumber@ybl but registration of upi needs updated number.
