Very urgent help needed - MakeMyTrip hotel booking horror

  Hey, fellow DesiDime community members! I find myself in an incredibly stressful situation and urgently need your guidance. I recently booked a hotel in Manali for a two-night stay through MakeMyTrip. However, during the payment process, I encountered an issue with Amazon Pay.

  After the payment, Amazon Pay didn't redirect me to the merchant's site, and when I clicked back, I received an error message indicating that the payment couldn't be completed. Consequently, I assumed the transaction had failed. On my MakeMyTrip "My Orders" page, the status was listed as "processing," with a note that if payment failed, I would receive a refund within a week.

    To resolve the situation, I decided to use the Amazon app to book the same hotel and successfully made the payment using my Amazon Pay credit card. However, here's where the real problem emerged - a few hours later, the original hotel booking that I thought had failed suddenly became successful. Now, I'm stuck with two hotel bookings for the same dates in Manali. When I checked the cancellation options, it shows that I won't receive any refund for either booking.

  MakeMyTrip's policy mentions that refunds are only considered in the case of unforeseen emergencies, such as the death of relatives, natural calamities, medical emergencies, etc., but they require proof. I'm truly shocked and don't know what to do next. Should I attempt a credit card chargeback through Amazon Pay? Should I cancel one of the bookings, and if so, which one? I'm desperate for advice and would appreciate any suggestions or insights you can provide. Please, fellow DesiDime members, help me navigate this challenging situation. I contacted MMT customer support and they told me that the refund entirely depends on the hotel and they spoke with the hotel. Luckily the hotel agreed for a full refund. It's all because both of my bookings were powered by MMT even though they were booked using Amazon and MMT respectively. Thanks for asking!

Ask for a chargeback mentioning the confirmation of the same hotel, chargeback the one which has issues mmt in your case citing the events and proof of duplicate booking...

Did you check your Amazon pay transactions?

Connect with MMT on Twitter, good thing is Amazon hotel booking is also handled by MMT, so they can see the duplicate booking
