You will have to reach out to that person to reverse. I don’t think bank will do.

In some post here i saw bank did help in reversing but it was something else i think

Once I transferred around 1300 Rs. to wrong bank account from Indusind to ICICI contacted ICICI they said this account has negative balance the money you sent will be deducted as MAB charges customer is not in our touch nothing can be done
I wonder if wrong upi transfers can be reversed?

One can approach to his bank branch and explain the situation. Upon receiving the incident in writing they can email to beneficiary bank branch, so the receiving bank can contact the beneficiary customer and ask to refund the amount.
But it all depends on …….
firstly bank staff willing to do email to other bank.
Secondly beneficiary bank staff willingness to contact him.
Lastly the beneficiary willingness to return the money.
But in this whole process important factor is the receiving beneficiary have mobile number registered to account so the contact is made.

Instead of this hassle double check beneficiary details before doing transfer.
Firstly send small amount like 1/- rupees upon successful transfer do remaining amount transfer.

that is why UPI is safe in terms of payee varification as it tells the name of account holder after entering the UPI id.

You did it right.
That’s something new I have heard. Sounds interesting definitely sender sounds fishy else why would someone will not immediately take back such a big amount if it was wrongly sent. Sounds so genuine would definitely take someone into trap easily.
Sometimes I wonder these people come up with so much new ideas I can’t imagine how good could have done if put in right direction.

Use Paytm UPI… There is only 1/100 failures rate… Gpay is total shit with their UPI system

Gpay is worst, Max. transactions getting stucked these days. Stopped using Ace on GPay for mere 5% , saving 100% from getting stucked

My cousin works in a psu bank as a senior manager and when I had asked her the same question, she told it completely depends on the bank managers whose assisting you and the co-ordination of the person whom you have wrongfully transferred; The hardest use case is when your bank and the person whom you have sent the money is a different bank – in this case it’s nearly impossible since it needs hopping permission from 1 bank to another which neither banks prefer; The second use case is when both banks are same, but different branches – in this case it’s possible, takes time, but if employee is ready to assist and the other person simply doesn’t “reject/decline” the offer, it can be reversed; Finally the easiest use case is when both the bank and branch happens to be same (rare, but does happens) – in this case, the bank employees themselves can reverse the transaction pretty much once they are fine with the transaction and both parties.
This info was wrt imps/neft only; for upi not sure if it’s the same or not.
Also note that both the bank and the other party is in no way obligated to co-ordinate with you in getting it reversed; it’s our responsibility to make sure it’s the right account and the bank/person has every right to simply out reject your claim… but good employees and people do exist wink

Yes, i feel some fishy so immediately refunded. But if something is planned then why anyone should send money to unknown. Their full money might be at risk.

He may be a genuine person but after knowing your honesty he may have tried to forward money to intended recipient rather than taking it back again from you in his account

I too complained for the same on Level -1, but my complained was rejected.

Again complained on Level -2, they removed the hold.

My is kotak bank, don’t know about other person one.

If i haven’t complained it, then they will deduct the amount after some time period

Yeah could be a genuine case too.
But currently in pandemic lot of scammers doing fraud in name of remdisivir, Oxygen, ventilator anything possible.
Taking money directly into their bank can get them caught easily. So there’s a chance this is a way to not get traced.
