My parents mobiles were stolen today while traveling in train in the morning. I have suspended the Jio no. which was the only one that was associated with bank accounts.
What else needs to be done?

dont logout. check in find my location last location.
The mobile was switched off almost immediately. So FMD for now isn't of any use.
File an FIR online.
The device was secured only with a 4-digit PIN. How many incorrect attempts does MIUI allow?
In the event the thief manages to gain access to the device can UPI still be used? Or since the SIM is suspended the UPI enabled apps will demand re-verification? Do I need to email the various banks?
The moment old SIM gets deactivated, all UPI/SIM linked apps will demand re-verification and re-login. PIN is required for UPI usage, so thief cannot use. For resetting PIN, debit card details are required
Find my device
Option 1 - lock with message
Option 2 - erase with message.
Block SIM. Get a copy of FIR and keep it safe. Police complaint is not in the hope of getting the device back, but if it is used for illegal activities, you would have proof that it got stolen.
Filing an FIR will have to wait until they can get hold of any Railway Police personnel. Otherwise tomorrow afternoon when they reach Bengaluru. Both IMEIs are required for FIR purposes I guess in case of dual SIM devices but the invoice from Flipkart just mentions one IMEI and I seem to have misplaced the retail box.
Now I will have to look into buying a suitable midrange smartphone which is the past year or so has been fairly frustrating considering the underwhelming options on offer.
Getting hold of Railway Police personnel was proving to be difficult so I DMed RailSeva on Twitter. The last response was from RPF so I guess it should be OK. The TTE is now empowered to act in such cases but he didn't. At least there was no issue with the ticket which was also stolen.
Edit: Unlikely that it will amount to anything but I did get a call from the Railway Police.
I guess its train staff who stole in this case

This is the Website for - Request for blocking lost/stolen mobile - CEIR
It is under Department of Telecommunication and Ministry of Communications.
It will block the IMEI So, No One would be able to access the Phone or use it thereafter with NEW SIM.
Currently Live in 11 States of INDIA.
Just upload an FIR Copy.
If they find out your device IMEI with new sim they will get alerts and after that you will get back your phone!
The numbers belong to Karnataka circle so the incident occurring in a different state shouldn't be an issue I guess. It's mind-boggling that this hasn't been rolled out to the all the circles yet. The FIR will be lodged once the train reaches Bengaluru and thereafter I will do the needful.
I have fielded multiple calls from the Railway Police so far. The mobiles and other belongings may never be recovered but I must say I am pleasantly surprised with the alacrity displayed so far.
There was a big collection of recovered mobiles at the GRP station, Bengaluru but unclaimed by their owners.
You should file FIR but don't expect you will get your stolen phone back. Your phone can be misused for wrongful activity. Police can track all sims were put in the phone since first used through IMEI. That's why for security purpose we should file a FIR to remain safe.
FIR was lodged with the Railway Police the next day. I was encouraged by the fact that the Railway Police, Odisha where the theft actually took place managed to recover 63 mobiles by arresting a thief last year.
P.S. What on earth was the theif thinking by holding onto several dozens of mobiles instead of disposing them ASAP? Also he was stupid enough to operate in only one train, HWR-YPR IIRC.
Father's mobile (Redmi Note 10 Pro ) housing the Jio no. has been switched off. Should I logout from the Google account now? If I do so I can't potentially make use of Find My Device feature.
