Hi Guys , One of my Postpaid sim was on Vodafone and I am paying a monthly bill of 352 on this , I want to know if any better prepaid plan is available in the market which will give Unlimited calls , Daily data is not required and a monthly data of 5-6 GB will work as I wont be using much data on mobile. From your experience please suggest me the best plan as I will be porting out of this Vi Drama and shift to some prepaid plans , BSNL is not available in my location.

https://app.spreadsheet.com/workbooks/embed/Rbz...

I was able to consolidate all the plans available today in the market from all the operators in the link above, hope this will help you too in selecting the best plan , please suggest if any modifications can be done in the list.

Approximately 130 Prepaid Plans are available in the Market Today from the 4 Major Telecom Operators

You can sort and filter the plans as per your need and find out the best as per your requirements.

₹395 plan in Jio which will give 84 days validity and 6 GB of data.

Upon subsequent need you can recharge with data plans like ₹121 for 12 GB, ₹61 for 6 GB, ₹25 for 2 GB

Considering 6 GB per month usage cost should come around ₹517 for 84 days.

You can even opt for ₹666 plan which gives 1.5 GB/day data and you can grab some offer while recharging from other platforms which won't be possible in case of ₹395 plan as it's available on JIO app/website exclusively. Also have herd Apay wallet option is back on jio so check that too.

I sent emails to appellate & Nodal team & Nodal team responded back to me saying that, the problem would get resolved by 6th Sept, but I highly doubt it & I think all they do is just registering a complaint & do nothing about it...

Even outdoors, I'm getting like 7 Mbps Down & 1 Mbps Upload speeds & my handset shows 4G+ signal with full towers...Most irritating thing we are facing in the family is that, no-one can hear us properly when they are calling our AirTel numbers & we in the family have all our main numbers as AirTel which are linked with all the bank accounts, all the sites & all our relatives also have these AirTel numbers...

I will wait for them to resolve & if they can't resolve it, I will have to port out to VI...VI also not providing good data speeds in the same area but atleast the voice call clarity is good & people calling my VI number not facing any problems hearing my voice...

BUT, if I port-out, I won't be able to use Hello Tunes which is Free in AirTel by Wynk app...I don't know how much VI charges for caller tunes but paying for both the Unlimited pack & then paying additional for CallerTunes might become difficult for me so I'm still waiting for AirTel to resolve the issues...

Out of the box Airtel only ever seemed to use B40 and to a lesser extent B3 and B1. Signal strength was horrible at around - 105 to - 110dBm. Sometimes sites would even fail to load nevermind any speed tests. Even outdoors 4G+ would fluctuate like crazy. Locking to B8 is usually sufficient to stream upto 1080p. There's one window which enjoys line of sight to the nearest tower and 4G+ is stable resulting in good speeds but it's not a practical solution. I have registered several complaints since 2018 when Airtel first rolled out 4G+ in my locality but to no avail. Thankfully over the years Vi has been excellent in my locality. In the last several months 20-30Mbps even during peak hours, indoors despite no 4G+. Airtel VoLTE is better than Vi in my case.

In my case previously locking to B5 helped. Lower speeds overall compared to 4G+ but way more consistent. With the improvement in indoor coverage since early last year band locking is no longer necessary.

Vi - Rs 118, 12GB data with 28 days SV. No calling benefits included. No OG SMS is allowed.

Jio - Rs 181, 30GB data with 30 days SV.

Why Prepaid ? Jio Postpaid is the cheapest and better than Prepaid. Jio Postpaid 199+ GST is the best in the market.

In case of shitty Airtel data vouchers don't have any validity of their own and are instead valid for the entire duration of the active pack. So in case of the annual 1799 pack for ex. the Rs 119,12GB data voucher should be valid for 1 year?

Extremely poor indoor coverage. Without manually locking to B8 using internet is an exercise in sheer frustration. Complaints over the years have been infructuous.

Can't port out due to large balances and greedy Airtel having blocked off usage of main balance completely for 14+ months with the exception of the crappy 99 pack.

Worst of all is the customer service. Blatant lies. Total waste of time right upto the Apellate authority. After DoT's intervention Airtel behaved for a couple of months and activated packs from main balance from their end upon request. But just as I had expected they stopped responding soon after. No response to numerous communications since 2.5 weeks now.

In my locality Jio has improved by leaps and bounds but it has coincided with a change of device from the years old Redmi Note 3 to Redmi Note 10 Pro/Poco F1. LTE CA config is the same so it's unclear as to the reason behind the improvement.

If the balance is too high, you may try converting from prepaid to postpaid. Your prepaid balance will be adjusted in your postpaid account. Then you can either use it, if the plan fits your need.Or port out. Last i remember if postpaid customer has balance in account, it is paid by cheque.

Do check beforehand, if there is any lockin period to get out of postpaid.

I am aware of this method but it's not very useful as there's a 3 month lock-in period last I  checked and the minimum at Rs 499 is way too high offering no benefits compared to much cheaper prepaid packs. If nothing else works out I may have to pursue this.

I don't know why they are launching 5G in India when they still can't even give 3G speeds in most places...I wrote the above in my complaint email too but I know for sure, they won't resolve anything by 6th Sept like they promised me in the email...

I don't know why should I pay for Unlimited packs when I'm getting like 2G speeds indoor...😑

I also don't know why so many people are going crazy for high priced 5G phones when most of us don't even get proper 3G speeds...

Unfortunately it's not possible without root. What's the issue with rooting? Even notorious apps like Axis Mobile are working.

Edit: Network Signal Guru explicitly mentions that Qualcomm diag driver is necessary. So maybe  it's only compatible with only QC chipsets. In any case it doesn't work well in 4G+ networks so you can use Cellular Z Pro which however isn't available in the Play Store. I remember band locking was possible in some older MTK SoCs without root. It might be the same in case of Kirin?

Edit2: In case of LTE signal strength is not a particularly good indicator of the speeds delivered by the network. SINR is much better in this regard. Apps like Net Monster, Cellular Z etc. can show SINR value w/o needing root. There could probably one or two spots in one's homes where the SINR is the highest and speeds could theoretically be the best. Tarang Sanchar is useful to ferret out the towers operated by the various telcos in one's locality and usually the spots with line of sight to a tower are blessed with good network coverage.

I have accounts in several banks & payment apps & most of them will not work after rooting...Also I'm on the HarmonyOS (an Android based OS made by Huawei) & bootloader unlock is not possible for this model...

Also try installing SCB app with USB debugging on...When you will try to open the SCB app, it will open a new browser tab, saying you need to disable the USB Debugging first to login...This is even without root..

iMobile, DBS, these will never work with root...I already tried with my ages old Galaxy Note 3 where I had installed Android 11 to see how banking apps react to it...

5G has better Indoor Coverage and Good Bands (Which will give at least good speed than the Current Speed)

700Mhz (Jio has ) and I guess 85Mhz (for Airtel) both has good internet coverage even in Concrete walls.

After a recent update HDFC works in a similar way. There's a Magisk module to automate it but I ultimately resorted to using a shortcut. I haven't tested DBS. Pockets does work so maybe iMobile should as well. Will check tomorrow. Have tested several banking apps off late like Kotak, Federal bank, IDBI Go etc. in which I don't hold an account and all worked well. Magisk Denylist isn't meant for hiding root and so if any app looks for Zygisk obviously it will fail. Either Magisk Delta or Shamiko module is necessary.

In a nice development Vi has blocked off recharges of over Rs 150 via USSD in KA circle . Airtel of course took the lead in this regard 15 months ago. AVOID resurrected. This was done sometime in the last couple of months but of course no need to keep the users informed of such a trivial change especially when TRAI is such a subservient organization. Balances in my Vi nos. makes those in my Airtel ones look like chump change. Oh well. Absolute monopoly by Jio couldn't have been any worse.
