Why did i get the mastercard version of HDFC Plat DC ?

I just opened my HDFC Savings max account, and instead of Easyshop plat visa DC, i received mastercard variant..

Do they randomly select the network or did my branch select it for me ?

Will this also give me 1% cb for cc bill payments on hdfc portal ?

is there any advantage or disadvantage of this MC card instead of visa card ?

I should mention all my other cards are either visa or rupay.

Yeah 1% is card benefits, doesn't matter whether its visa or mc

even I had Mastercard variant, no difference at all in benefits

in case of Mastercard, tiny advantage is, for airport lounge access, Rs. 25 is deducted and refunded making it effectively FREE whereas in case of Visa, non-refundable Rs. 2 is deducted but now spending Rs. 1 lac/lakh in a quarter for airport lounge access is bizarre 😬

That's for credit cards right? If it applies to debit card, paying credit cards with them could satisfy that right?

When I opened savings bank account on my mother's name last month I also received mastercard varient by default

Then by app I again applied for easyshop platinum card ,the card I received this time was visa varient

Btw both varient provides 1%cashback

Something regarding the alphabets present in your full name, the algo chooses mc or visa as I've observed, never been issued a MC in my life by default or asked for that myself...

My mom got a Visa Plat. I got MC,
The difference in our full names is that her name has a "S". All other letters in her name can make up mine
