Windows 10 is basically free now a days(legally) if—> inability of changing wallpaper and the ‘Activate Windows’ text does not bother you much.

But some professional softwares (newer versions, atleast) run only on activated Windows only.

If laptop already has activated win 7/win 8.1 then just upgrade to win 10 using win 10 media creation tool from microsoft site & running the setup.exe file inside win 10 iso image/setup.
