Something feels fishy.. for a profit driven corporate and who’s being involved in some pretty shady and illegal tracking stuff with israel, there offer for a free upgrade seems very dangerous.
I’m ok with win 7 pirated one and if it one day becomes unstable, will move to linux

Don’t take chances with win 7 now.Virus/malware/ransomware favourite target is systems running out of support windows versions & no av will help as system vulnerabilities are very hard to defend against without security updates from microsoft.

No.AMD didn’t release win 7 drivers for ryzen apu. Even if they did nobody in their right mind should run win 7 on latest hardware especially after its official support ended.

thanks. that one didn’t work out though.
(need to perform a clean install)

I did find a discussion somewhere and they mentioned direct Microsoft partner or Microsoft’s own aka.ms some links.
but somehow whatever i try for in place upgrade: works.
but clean install, either keys don’t get accepted or it doesn’t run the full setup. sad

Haven’t got personal experience, but @guest_999 is somewhat right.
But there surely are ways to partition the drive or install the OS on some other machine and then seitch the drive back (mostly, not a good thing to do though)
You could check https://www.anandtech.com/show/11182/how-to-get-ryzen-working-on-windows-7-x64

or

http://reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/aoi1de/install_windows_7_on_ryzen_5
.
But just out of curiosity to undersrand.. you’d use Win7 as default/permanently or just for trial?
.
Unless you gave the special keys/serial which MS has given to your laptop brand.. you won’t be able to receive Extended Support (without doing some mini hacks to patch updates).
.
In simple words, running Win7 on a standalone, not connected to the internet.. machine for odd jobs, specific audio-video editing is okay.
.
Otherwise, using Win7 when everyone wants to attack it or devlops new malware, ransomware to target deficiencies.. it would just mess things up.

Don’t think you will be able to dual boot pre-installed windows 10 & windows 7 on your machine. You might need to delete all the partitions first, then install the new OS
If your laptop comes with a recovery image/drive..try it yourself, windows 7 might just work with Ryzen (considering yours is not a touch based laptop)
If it doesn’t have any such provision… take a backup of system image (via Control panel – Backup & restore). Save it to your external hard drive & do the experiments (Can restore the OS back to the default one once you’re done trying)
Anyways..like other suggested i wouldn’t go back to windows 7 from windows 10 (Like it more)

Aside of the intrusive, on the sly background processes and updates.. my grouse was the interface.
The processes can still be stopped or worked around, but the look and feel.. its too tedious to bring it to feel like Win7, and sadly bit more difficult to “get used to it” if one doesn’t want to.
.
Win7 was almoat built from scratch.
.
Marton (TechAltar), had touched upon some of those inconsistencies in a concise manner

.
He has worked (employed) with Oppo or such companies earlier.

For laptops or desktops without graphics card, running win 7 on ryzen apu(aka Ryzen G processors) is practically not possible because there is no official win 7 ryzen apu driver & without that driver there can be no ryzen integrated graphics unless one is happy with running 1024*768 default microsoft basic graphics driver. Anyway someone still running win 7 on a pc connected to net should just hope his luck doesn’t run out when it is most needed.

Bhai there is no ryzen integrated graphics driver for win 7 & all laptops come with integrated graphics processor only. You can install win 7 but without the graphics driver it will run on standard 1024*768 basic microsoft graphics driver which is practically useless except for just turning on the laptop to see its screen. This is not a issue for ryzen processors without integrated graphics like the non-G ryzen 1200/1600/2600 etc. or ryzen G desktop pc with separate graphics card as graphics card drivers are available for win 7.

In any case like I said above, someone still running win 7 on a pc connected to net should just hope his luck doesn’t run out when it is most needed.

Back in the day, i used to modify windows drivers to work (Manual install via Device manager) for windows 7/10 n vice versa
There is no guarantee that it (AMD Vega drivers) will work but it is worth a try ..if u are so much into something

Arey bhai it won’t work, what you did involves editing a few lines in driver config file to rule out compatibility checks & such. If somebody had found out a way to run ryzen apu driver on win 7 then it would have been all over the online news, major tech sites, forums & reddit but there is nothing.

The ‘’Metered settings’’ will work only for couple of weeks. After that, it updates without your knowledge.

Thanks.. for the heads-up.
Im still less inclined.
Also, might get the ESU key for one of the machines by getting via-via in touch with someone working with the brand (Hewlett Packard) and maybe even for Toshiba.
.
Not sure though.
Was busy with other things.
