My car was stolen sometime in early 2022 from the basement parking of the gated society in which I reside.
Despite applying for claim on time, and with proper procedures, the insurance company repudiated my claim on grounds of 'Gross negligence' on my part.
However I escalated the issue at the insurance ombudsman(online), and within 2 months, I got a call from the ombudsman for the hearing.
The hearing went smooth, and the ombudsman was very helpful and professional.
Though I was skeptical of legal procedures in India, ombudsman was a surprise change.And when the final award came in my favour, it restored my belief in the system.

In layman's term, they are higher authorities who look into the matter where companies don't provide suitable remedy.
For banking issues, RBI Ombudsman, for Life insurance issues, Life Ombudsman and for insurance we've insurance ombudsman etc etc
