A request to all dimers to post reviews/suggestion/do’s/donts about xiaomi piston
It will be helpful for dimers like me who don’t know what do you mean by burning headphone and how to do it
I even asked गुगले but found this
Those headhpones are from ipod 1st gen. I still have them
Hi,
Please go through this link. they have explained very clearly what is burning in and the advantages of the same.
http://www.tekfusiontechnologies.com/bu…n/
There is a link on the bottom of the page to start the burn in player. As i’m writing this post i’m still burning in my MI piston earphones using the tekfusion burn in player. Best method is to let the player run overnight with the earphones plugged in. Recommended burn in time is 50 hours.
Hope this helps.
You got your Piston?
If yes then start using it and forget about this concept of Burn-in cos its just your mind.
Simply plug it in your ear and adjust it to get the perfect sound.
This burn-in theory is not proven so believe what you hear not what they make you believe.

@cybertechie thankx for the input;-}

goss bhi sorry kis baat ki? i know you posted that image in reference to earphone burn in as humour.
Coming to the topic burn in actually works, it can also damage brand new speakers. so please be careful.
Question for fellow dimers who got the Pistons
1. What color was the box? I got white but most unboxing videos on the web have brown boxes.
2. Is there really a sure shot way of knowing v1 against v2
3. What about the controls, anyway to configure it on android?
First time I heard burning of earphones in piston thread.
Headphones delivered Today. Will check after I reach home.
You don’t really need to “burn in” IEMs with any special procedure.

Qoute: “Remember these changes are very slight and would happen naturally in time without ‘burning in’ your headphones.”
http://www.cnet.com/news/headphone-burn-in-fact…
Quote: " I called upon a local (Brooklyn, N.Y.) headphone manufacturer, Grado Labs’ John Grado, to weigh in about burn-in, and he said, “All mechanical things need break-in.” He did not recommend leaving headphones playing continuously for a few days to hasten the process. He recommends using new headphones as you normally would, and after 50 hours or so the sound will be all it can be. "
received mine today. box colour is brown. colour – Gold. dint checked the quality yet.
I am a big audiophile and I have spend more money on iems than on phones. There are topics which says that burn in doesnt make any changes to the song quality and some other articles which says it does.
In my personal experience, burn-in plays a huge factor in the sound quality of iems. I have personally tested myself and did posted few reviews on hifi forum.
The problem is people dont have patience enough to proper burnin the headphones and start complaining about less bass, low treble etc. The basic logic is the more you use your headphones, the better the quality will come in the coming weeks.
Some prefer to just use it as its, and some prefer to use it with putting effort to enjoy the best experience they could get from the headphones.
If you are lazy or doesnt believe in burnin, please dont read below and close this read.
However if you are still here, I am posting a guide about how to increase the sound quality of any IEM’s.
There is a burnin software which I have uploaded and shared the link below:
http://www10.zippyshare.com/v/71585289/fil...ml
There are 4 music files :
White Noise (Play this for 10 hours enable rest period as Rest every 60mins, rest length-2 mins)
Pink Noise (Play this for 8 hours enable rest period as Rest every 30mins, rest length-1 mins)
Pure Test Tone (Play this for 12-15 hours enable rest period as Rest every 30mins, rest length-3 mins)
Frequency Sweep (Play this for 20 hours enable rest period as Rest every 10mins, rest length-1 mins)
Use the settings above and share your feedback. Thank me later.
I ordered them today with in-a-day delivery guaranteed on 6th.Didn’t order last time as I thought it to be piston 1, but turned out its v2.1! Once I get them can compare with Sony MH1C, Skullcandy S2TTDY033, iDance SeDJ700, Philips Oneill and a few others that I am using,Can’t wait
BTW, I don’t believe much in burn-in. Yes it does improve but it will NOT be a BIG change. Mostly you’ll notice more difference in lows, some go more punchy some more smooth and some more detailed, some maybe get their highs smoothed/refined. Difference will be around ~10%, so if you don’t like out of the box, its not likely that you’ll like it after several hours burn-in too
It also depends on the IEM’s. Some won’t change their sound even burnt 100s of hours (brainwavz, bose etc). Burn-in is basically bringing the drivers to tune at their best, so maybe if you find some IEM which isnt tuned well out of the box it may give better frequency response after some several hours
goss buddy looks like you already got your answer
I even asked गुगले but found this
try this next time
hitme bro eagerly waiting for your comparison review against skullcandy

I agree with this theory myself. I let my IEMs burn slowly to my own music taste.
Also amount of burn in is needed will vary from IEM to IEM
@micke
loved ur new lonnnnnnnnng dp:shock:

For me, all the headphones changed a lot after the burn in period…The most noticeable thing is bass…
Watch one of rajani anna’s movies, and it will get burned in no time…All the sound in the audible spectrum will be there…

+1, I do listen to headphones a LOT (4 hours a day minimum ), hence I’d want them to last long, I feel just burning hours may just reduce their life. Not sure about it but My IEM’s last 1-2 years at max & because of my long usage I don’t feel its good to force the drivers too early
@ sence, the second statement does clearly make a lot of sense
Where is it written piston 2??? Anybody
Headphones are awesome.

Officially in love with Xiaomi Products.
Dunno but as per the pics posted its v2 as v1 and v2 housings are bit different. V2 has kinda a mesh typed hole in the back where as v1 has flat metal surface with some ripple design on it. Some are saying its v2.1, whatever it is, I bet its awesome
Yeah, me too. Xiaomi is the poor man’s apple now 10400mAh Powerbank looks so stunning and giving great backup. Dunno how they sold that for 999, great quality. My friend’s Mi3 is awesome and can’t wait for redmi now

And just a perspective this 10k powerbank is sold at ~675/- in Singapore At 675 this is sensational !! Unbeatable both in terms of quality and design !
hahaahahaha goss bhai ka case to same mere wala nikla

In my honest opinion, no IEM close to 4k can perform like piston does! Stop thinking and go buy it, definitely worth it
I’m telling this after using(or listening to) all of these headphones Meelectronics M6, S6,R1, Westone UM3X, Rockit Sounds R-50, Ultimate Ears Triple Fi-10 , Brainwavz M3, Sony XBA-4,MH1C,skullcandy s2ttdy033,Philips Oneil Cruz,iDance SeDJ 700 & iDance Funky 400! Thats a quite long list indeed
Guys if anyone has a soundmagic Es18 earphones then try the buds from them on Piston. Sounds absolutely amazing. Much better than the stock piston buds.
Like the above poster said there is no earphone, i repeat, no earphones in 4k range that comes anywhere close to this thing.
Got my pair of Piston just now.
Made a video while opening the box.
Don’t know why a burnt smell was coming while opening the box.
It might be due to the plastic cover over the box.
I didn’t find any chocolate smell.
Anybody had such experience?
lol
But that indeed is the best way to burn your headphones.
