Zepto - bad experience, kind of a scam.

Today I ordered a product costing Rs480 from Zepto. Generally that product is available at 45-50% discount on other platforms. But it got a 68% discount from Zepto.
But they delivered an expired product [exp. On Nov 2023].
On first complaint they ignored & said they checked with delivery warehouse & found that the product delivered was intact & not damaged.
Lol.
Then I asked for the manager's call & they agreed but no one called in 5 hrs , also no communication was received.
Later, again complained & choose refund in original payment instrument [used UPI ] [same during 1st time] , again they said same generic reply & told they will check with warehouse. After checking, they ignored my refund or exchange of product.
But this time I wrote a long message & told them it's illegal to sell expired goods & I will complaint in consumer forum.
After 5 mins chat hold, they immediately processed refund in Zepto wallet & before I could send message, the chat ended.

Why are they doing this ?
Is this is new way to generate sales & also show their investors that they have large sales but in reality they are forcing customers to buy from them ? As they process refund in their Wallet ?

But recently they have started this new technique.

The problem started recently, trying to avoid refund & after repeated complaints crediting in wallet.
That means from customers bank to their own wallet & generating forceful sales.
Not like Amazon where it can be used in almost every platform.

Swiggy zepto and mostly all stores does that.. Selling Neary expiry product at their cost price.. They might not gain anything but ad you said it actually increase sales and actually they saved by not loosing.. Few customers complain few don't so win win situation for them.. Get rid of near expiry product

Yes, as I mentioned I l00ted near expiry items [ about to be expired in few months] so that's not actually illegal, it's win win for both.
But sending expired product that too previous year is illegal.
Also denying refund or exchange for the same.

Zepto is indeed a scam
Their profile says, we promise to never spam you but I got spammed every day.
After a month of endless support requests, robotic responses and no resolution, their spams continued and Zepto failed to keep its promise.
I deleted the account and uninstalled the app.
Not worth it to choose a service provider who doesn't honour and understand importance of customer service in the first place.

If app in uninstalled, still they send WhatsApp & sms. Mostly every company does.

In all these kind of problem just tell them they will file a complaint on consumer forum and refund my money to source. I don't want in wallet.

Threaten then move to Consumer forum if they are stubborn, online, quick and easy.
Don't touch that amount, sometimes its not abt money, its abt principals.
They(any notorious store) can't get away everytime.

Last time when i received almost expired almonds .. the employee was almost begging me to take the refund in the wallet ... And not via upi
Maybe they r forced to do this by the higher department 
Then .. when i received the refund in wallet (it had 50+ zepto free cash) they expired the free cash given to me as promotion, the very next day.... This reduces their loss a little bit!
