time to become truely desi

there is a growing realisation among desis that blindly buying chinese goods has brought us to the position where we do not have strength to stand on our own feet.

the chinese are a clever lot. but their cleverness is nothing compared to the our desire to get goods cheaper, even if this means ignoring the long term cost of the support for chinese goods. this time though, desis are begining to realise that cheap chinese goods means weak india.

indian goods are more expensive that chinese goods because this is india. we have right to freedom of speech and right to life – both absent for the chinese. so, if we value these rights, we must be conscious about the people to whom we give your money and support.

so i suggest that desidime ensure that deals that are put on this site are clear about the source of the product. atleast let us start the culture of looking at the source of the product from the label before parting with our money.

a few hints :
1. if there is no label, it is NOT made in india in most cases
2. if there is a label, and it reads only “marketed by” or “MA” some indian company, it is likely NOT made in india
3. if there is a label that reads “manufactured for” some indian company, it is likely NOT made in india
4. if there is a label that reads “designed in”, “developed in”, etc some indian company, it is likely NOT made in india
5. if there is only a “MAKE in india” logo of the geared tiger, it is likely NOT made in india

only products that clearly have a “Manufactured by”/ “Made in India”, are most likely made in india. among these also there are some that do NOT have a factory address, so they are suspect.

there is no need to boycott countries who are not inimical to us. so even products not made in china are better, though not as much as products made in india.

so, please desidime add a compulsory field for all future deals to enter place of origin – only three options are required – “Made in China”, “NOT Made in China”, “Do not know”.
