TV Buying Help
Hi guys,
Need some inputs and suggestions regarding a TV purchase
1. Smart TVs.. Worth or not?? Or is Chromecast a better options
An if opting for a smart TV, which brand is good. Preferable brands are Samsung, Sony, Panasonic (to a lesser extent) only.
And how does Panasonic stack up against these 2 considering significant price differences between Pana and Sony/Sam
2. If opting for a 32" TV, is Full hd better or HD ready will be sufficient
- Sort By
@getready Yes purchase will be offline only. In stores like Croma they have so many TV stacked up its difficult to judge
android smart Tv will be very expensive I guess above 50k. BTW, why is Tizen not recommended??
Tizen is not bad, it is good
Its just that Tizen store has limited apps
But again it depends on your need n usage
There will be at least one model for every series offline (Like Samsung Joy Series for smart tvs, 32inch, 40inch …). Check one offline and buy online when there’s a deal
I recommend Sony 32“ FHD
Perfect size & colors for 10×15 Hall, though if you want you can even get bigger size depending sitting distance & wall preference
Vijay sales running 10% Axis cashback
Sony Mony, Kohinoor also provide additional discounts at times
check kohinoor stores the prices some what similar to online
TV brand – LG is also good
If u really need good picture quality than go for LG 4K, rather than for the sake of name SONY which has worst display looks very dull, cloudy, foggy and its viewing angles are very poor.
Go and try out LG SmartTV’s they have WebOS which is far better compared to Android, it boots up quickly and also many more features.
I bet if u go for SONY u will regret alot paying alot for outdated features and bad display. But in case of LG u will never regret, that’s my assurity from my personal experience.
u can go for VU Full HD tv , and use android box for Smart features like IPTV
aa gaye JMD saab
Whatever you do don’t go for a Curved TV, it’s totally a gimmick.
Go for Full HD for sure, no need of 4K at this moment in India cause of speed/FUP limits and scarce content. Hopefully everything will improve within 2 years.
Smart TVs are over-rated. The good ones cost too much. My personal suggestion is LG for brand. I haven’t tried Chinese brands like VU or LE Tv. One thing that is common across all these brands that I have noticed is the sound sucks on all of them. They indirectly force you to buy a separate sound system but that’s subjective depending upon your need.
Even Samsung is not bad. If you want smart TV functionalities you can use a chromecast or android box or setup a DLNA with wifi etc.
P.S> Though I had a bad experience with LG recently. Had a LG microwave running without a problem for last 4-5 years, just a minor problem with a button. The LG service guy opened it and screwed everything and then LG didn’t have the spare parts. So it’s now a piece of junk.
Thanks… For Sony or Samsung if i go for 40 inch smart the price is going out of budget.
The only option would be to settle for Panasonic which gives a smart TV at cheap prices
Would Chromecast serve the purpose properly on an internet connection of 1 Mbps (Mega bits) . Main use will be apps like YouTube and web browsing.
2 month back I purchased this Lg 43 inch from flipkart in 32000 after cashbacks.
https://www.flipkart.com/lg-108cm-43-full-hd-sm...
also flipkart provided a very good flexible wall mount which cost 1500+ in market.
Very much satisfied with this LED. Having all basic smart functionality. as it have built in wifi we can use miracast functionality without internet, which I found very useful. sound, display all good. good picture quality even with SD box. and built in youtube and Netflix. but web browsing is not there.
before purchasing I compared this model at store with same 43" sony android TV, which cost 15000-20000 more. not much difference I found in display of sony and Lg, but still sony I found sony display slight upper edge which is negligible.
I suggest minimum 40 inch LED for better experience @avgn
32k, that is really a deal. price now shows 38-39k. 5k is really good discount. planning to buy this or some other LG 43" TV
Today 1.5k discount is available on flipkart for sbi card,. Should i wait for better offer?
Smart Tvs are waste of money. If you are buying 32" TV then HD ready is sufficient as 40" inch is the minimum requirement to see a difference between HD and SD display. I will not recommend any brand but I bought Micromax 50inch FHD for just 31k during Flip. BB day and it’s picture quality is on par with other brands in the market. http://www.amazon.in/Micromax-50B6000FHD-127cm-... I think android stick or android box is better than chromecast because in chromecast you have to keep your mobile phone or pc ON, side by side with your TV. Any dimer here using any android stick or any android box? Please let everyone know 1) which one you are using 2) price and from where u bought 3) if bought from aliexpress did u pay import duty? if yes then how much? 4) pros n cons
That statement is wrong.
Got a smart TV few months ago and settled with a Sony TV. Checked out one from LG, Sony and Samsung in showrooms. The display quality was good in Samsung and Sony, sound was good in few models of all three brands but OS was different in all of them.
Finally went ahead with Sony as it had better pricing and Android OS as opposed to WebOS and Tizen.
Got Sony Bravia 55W800D for 67k on paytm with warranty.
As far as smart TV goes, you can emulate the same functionality with a Android TV too which is a good way to cut down on price. Also, it won’t be too much of an issue to prefer HD ready over Full HD for 32" TV.
Do note that you need to have decent supportive network to really enjoy a smart TV. I would recommend a good router and fast internet connectivity for sure.
Thanks for the replies everyone..
Have decided to get 40/43 inch TV
Some models that i have shortlisted (in order of preference)
1. Samsung Non smart 40K5100 + Use Chromecast with it
http://www.amazon.in/Samsung-inches-40K5100-Ful...
2.LG smart web os 3.0 43LH600T (Though slightly over budget)
http://www.amazon.in/dp/B01G...0S
3.Panasonic Smart with Firefox OS
www.amazon.in/Panasonic-TH-40DS500D-inches-Full...
I like LG (have 2 40 inches as secondary TVs) and webos in one of them is decent enough. I like the recording function and youtube is decent (wireless keyboard works good). Haven’t bothered to update the webos but from what I remember there wasn’t any option to select quality of the picture on utube. But I guess the OS did a decent job of managing the speed and selecting the optimal quality.
But on samsung display seems more natural compared to LG (really shouldn’t be comparing them as my samsung is the main unit with a larger screen and higher pricing). If you have decided to go with non-smart samsung should be good for you. At least you are not paying for the smart functionality you are not using.
Edit- When it is TVs its only samsung lg or sony for me. Really have no personal experience with other brands.
@avgn if u r buying normal TV then buy Mi TV box or ReTV box as it is much more than chrome cast which only casts. The good thing I like about ReTV is it has bittorrent in it and we can stream all videos available on torrent which means we can watch any video available on this planet
Having smart TV since last five years..
Abhi tak 5 baar pen drive tak na use Ki Maine, leave aside smart features..
1500+ using some cashback site? what is that?
Wat about Micromax Canvas Smart 32 inch HD Smart TV..?? Any comments
Do not try micromax, its not worth and poor quality.
Any views on VU TV i heard it’s better than Sony but less than LG
Need to buy a small tv of 22-24 inches, pls suggest
Go for best Display quality. Don’t directly purchase online. Visit Local Croma/RD or any other retailer and check and compare personally. Samsung and Sony display panels look a lot better than many other competitors no idea about Panasonic
Its better if you go for FHD for 32"+ TVs
Smart TV or not isn’t that important
If you are going for a smart tv then make sure that it has android os ( the smart tv i got from amazon samsung wala had tizen)
Some smart tvs will not get OS updates at all (Like Lenovo w.r.t smartphones) it would not be a worthy investment if you are going for a premium smart tv with very old dated features
For better experience and new features we have so many devices like chromecast, roku, nexus player, apple tv. You can replace any if u feel that they are outdated
PS : In India, TVs cost a lot compared to US
Samsung 50inch 4k Smart TV costs 1.5 lakh, while the imported one costs 60k on eBay.in
