Hitachi and Carrier are leading brands in AC ,both are little expensive though.
But good customer service.
Dont buy Amazon Basics ones ,check out midea ACs as well bluestar Acs are good too.

This AC is for someone in rural areas. Which customer service is better to those places?

Depends on that area
Generally you get 3-4 General wash service all around the years . Nothing else like customer services except malfunction issues.
So prefer only brand according to your budget , customer service will not play serious roll

…..buy offline for better rate….show them the price u r getting online and they will match it….

…plus if u r willing to buy 2018 or 2017 models they seems to be a bit cheaper but still relevant…

…use bajaj finserve emi card to get 0 emi …good offer also…

…Yes regarding models…every brand has good models and not so good models…like maruti swift is very good but a-star was a failure….so look for models not brands….

entry mode — Voltas , bluestar n videocon

slightly costly — Daikin , hitachi

Best - O’general…

Carrier (like GE consumer appliances) is a brand owned and run by their (Chinese) ex-rivals.
in-fact Midea which you mentioned towards the end, manufactures
and distributes Carrier now (in Bharat, other BRICS region) http://midea.com/global/about_midea/history

may be they still use the old distribution network.
(except older India focused brands like Sony, LG, Samsung… most foreign brands rely on the seller/distributor for day to day service)

Hitachi, Bosch, Daikin might have improved in some A-list locations
but otherwise there have been cases of horror stories dealing with them.

since OP’s budget and profile already pare with home grown brands
s/he /they are better off with LG, Voltas.
can look at Carrier too, despite Chinese but avoid Llyod, Koryo type Chindian ones.
Mitsubishi (Panasonic’s) Cube ACs were cost effective. Don’t know if they are still sold wap.business-standard.com/article/press-releases/cube-ac-the-first-of-its-kind-in-the-world-launched-by-panasonic-india-111021800115_1.html

Novak If you are from Delhi or nearby and installing it in very hot places, can look at assembled units with main compressor of OGeneral (OG).
yes, dealers or electricians build the blowers and stuff using locally sourced or Chinese parts but main unit is OG.
Voltas is now marketing (thus priced higher) convertible ACs, which can down step to 1tonne if less people/ less cooling needed or run at 1.5tonne
also, in shops (rarer in on-line portals) finding previous generation/year model/s might fetch you a better rate for the same Novak
oyi! just read through the comments, still_guessing already covered that one.
with Panasonic, few years back, the difference between model sold till Oct-Nov versus ones available in Mar-Apr
would be over 4000 rupees in some places/cases.
you need to find out by knowing the differences in naming conventions. often just a few letters are replaced in the end of the model number.

like OG in UAE, Kenwood also sells well in hot areas of Af-Pak. but in India, is Kenwood seen much (in large appliances)?

Come what may, avoid getting trapped by misleading names or flowery model numbers, and rather ask for/ look at technical specifications to find out the BTU rated capacity. British Thermal Units (and not xyz tonnage) is what gives the exact capacity).
Lastly, (in Bharat at-least) energy efficiency ratings are HIGHLY subjective. The point being, it still may not be as closer to functional benefits but still get used for marketing (pricing) purposes.
When we first explored Inverter airconditioners (and subsequently bought few) there were no such ratings from BIS for the category.
what might be 4 star as per standards or tech from 5 years back, might today.. be 3 star. likewise
