Association also says accommodation was not being arranged for doctors

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) has alleged that the administration and corporate social responsibility (CSR) section had redirected ₹50 lakh from Bharat Dynamics under the Ministry of Defence to PM-CARES fund rather than the originally assigned purpose of buying personal protection equipment (PPE).

The Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund, a public charitable trust, was set up in response to the emerging requirement for resources to defeat the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The Association added that the hostel superintendent was not able to arrange accommodation despite instructions to cut travel time for doctors.

“We met with the administration on Wednesday and told them about our concerns and requested that all personal protection equipment will have to meet the safety standards prescribed by the Health Ministry and that neither doctors nor other patients should be put at risk of catching the infection. “Jugaad” PPE will not work,” said AIIMS RDA general secretary T. Srinivas Rajkumar on Thursday.

He said the funds being re-directed was a serious issue.

The RDA has also noted that the hostel superintendent was reluctant to arrange for accommodation despite repeated instructions by the AIIMS administration to make the stay comfortable for residents travelling from far every day.

Meanwhile, the AIIMS RDA has also written to the Central government about the recent assault on doctors treating a COVID-19 patient at the Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad.

“It is extremely disheartening to know that such events continue unabated even when this country is going through this massive pandemic. Such actions would destroy the morale of frontline healthcare workers deployed in such testing situation,” said the AIIMS RDA in its letter.

To Bhakts : It has been 9 days since lockdown, Where is the PPE for doctors?

Are we done sending PPE to Maldives and Serbia for PR points?

Bhakts neither have brains nor they listen.
They only follow orders, no matter what happens to humanity.
I hope your dad and sis have made their own arrangements. No one can depend on anyone in our country. Safety first, treatment later.

These countries have no PR value. Those are purely business transactions. For-profit deals.
Indians have been officially butchered.

And it really shocks me, the govt of India is dependent on “Charitable” trust for public relief.

I guess the non-govt charitable trust was created to dodge any questions under RTI.

No arrangements till now. Whatever i had arranged is stuck in couriers. I am waiting for lockdown to end, so that i can rush and purchase PPE myself.

Government hospital received supply of grand total of 60 unbranded masks after 9 days.

It won’t happen until mass deaths occur.
Only this will make the people to force the government to look out and improve healthcare system.

6.2 Million orders yet to come.
If our doctors don’t use anything, they can get infected and they can infect others..
Why can’t we use china ka maal?
I mean we don’t have anything, at least it will buy us some time till orders from Korea and Singapore arrives..

“Bloody anti-national doctors, playing politics in this national emergency. Where were they and their PPEs for the last 70 years ? Why are they crying now ? 70 saal ka kachra 1 saal me thori saaf ho jayega, time to lagega. At least, Honorable PM Shri Modi ji CARES. What more do they want? Why are they always blaming the government, why cant they go out and purchase their own PPEs?”

Believe me, many here would be feeling all this word by word. Poor souls, cant express themselves freely. sad

Thanks for the information.

I called some distributors in my neighboring states before the lock-down. They still have stock of masks. I think government is also stuck in bureaucracy at some level and is slow in procuring supplies.

Instead of Thali Bajao and Diya Jalao, Modi should ask people to supply masks and PPE to their local hospitals.

Thanks. Just called few distributors, suppliers today. They are from neighboring states. I didn’t approach them earlier because inter-state travel was strictly prohibited. We are going to get few supplies in next 2-3 days.

Just think that if even 1 doctor gets infected its a huge loss as already we are having very bad patient doctor ratio.
In last 70 years it was needed in very less quantity.
We will purchase ppe by ourselves but first make them available in market also.

today we have received 1.7 lakh PPEs made in china; 1.3 lakh still yet to come from china.
Also, singapore will deliver PPEs starting from 11th April in installments of 2 lakh PPEs.
https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/polit...
We can expect that we will get enough PPEs by end of this month.
But don’t know what will be corona situation in next 2 weeks.
Sab bhagwan ke bharose he.. cry

In one month, half of the medical and paramedical staff will themselves be in isolation wards.
