Hi guys,
I’m working in Bangalore currently and the traffic here is horrendous. Although my workplace is just 2.5 kms away from home, it takes 30-40 mins to reach office in company provided cab. Some of my colleagues have switched to gearless scooters for their versatile nature plus it is easier to use a scooter for errands instead of taking my car out. I have ridden many motorcycle’s in the past but never tried a scooter before. I would like to know how difficult it is for a person who is used to riding geared motorcycle to adjust to a gear less scooter.
I would appreciate if you guys could recommend a scooter.Would prefer a scooter that suits tall and well built guy( 6 feet ,90 kgs)
Thanks
@@cybetechie@@ good to hear all is fine the scooter.. . Of course if it’s Sunday, RTO work won’t happen, but it surely should happen today.
The missing link is the TC registration.. cannot understand why they give it – which cost you some extra money – unless you specifically insisted on taking it immediately.
Having said, getting a registration number will not take 10+15 days for sure. Check on this as well..
All the best…
Go for Honda Navi undoubtedly awesome
Update : My vehicle is yet to be registered. Dealer keeps saying that there was some updates to RTO software which is delaying the registration process. Hopefully they will take care of it soon.I’m exploring the option of writing to TVS top management if the dealer delays it further. I haven’t escalated it to TVS yet since dealer has been very nice to me.
Scooter has been working great so far. My daily commute involves some pothole ridden roads as well and the scooter is able to handle them nicely. Headlights are bright and offers decent illumination at night. Best part of Tvs ju[piter is that it handles more like a motorcycle. Throwing it around the corner is fun and the tyres offer very good grip. TVS has introduced Sync braking system even in basic variant of Jupiter which had definitely enhanced overall braking capability.
@cybertechie TVS has introduced Sync braking system
You mean combi breaks like in Activa ???
Dealer told the same thing however there is no official update, i even asked their customer support…..
Can you please confirm….
Bought a Jupiter ZX for dad, drivability alone is much better than Activa. Much smoother and light.
Congrats. It’s a very good scooter.
1 month update : So it’s been a month since i bought the Jupiter. My daily commute is hardly 5 kms so scooty has managed to run just 110 kms so far Overall fuel efficiency is ~ 35 kmph. I have noticed that the ride quality improves with a pillion rider on board but if you ride single, ride is a little bit on the bumpier side.No complaints so far.
Looks like I need to convince my dad to buy Jupiter. He really hates TVS as there will be no resale value
just saw this topic
@cybertechie you are switching from bike/car to scooter
in my case I am riding scooter from past 9 years and i am trying to switch to car or even a a bike
but my co. won’t pay me enough (Its a E-comm co. Damn!)
earlier was riding poor kinetic, now activa from past 7 years
i feel so embarrassed feel like a woman now after all these years, Next level feminist
Need to switch to a bike at least for sake of testosterone level
BTW For my dad I am gonna buy a scooter in next 10 days
But confused between Activa / Jupiter, Wanna go with Jupiter but Dad says need Peace of Mind with Honda
My activa 2008 model has now have a efficiency of just 22-25 kmpl
Although Activa is a decent scooty but Honda’s dealership and after sales service is pathetic throughout the country. In terms of fit and finish, both Jupiter & Honda are on par. Gone are the days when Honda Activa was synonym for quality & reliability. You can find teething issues with Activa as well.
I would suggest you to take your dad along for a back to back test ride of both Activa & Jupiter and make a decision. For me Jupiter is a much better value than Activa with telescopic forks, 12 inch alloy wheels, external fuel cap etc.
Hello guys, want to buy a scooter too. Read the whole thread and what I observed was “Jupiter” and “activa” was top choice among dimers.
But what I am most concerned among is the after sale maintenance cost ?
I had a very bad experience with Suzuki access 125 (2009 model) . It started costing more in maintenance phase(engine problem).
Now my mechanic suggests me to buy Jupiter.
Can anyone shed light on the basis of “maintenance cost as a factor” which scooter is good ?
and if jupiter, then which model as it comes in 3 variants ?
I’m using Honda activa since 2014 and almost no maintenance so far apart from occasional engine oil change. Here dimers are recommending Jupiter, but almost of my friends has a great hate towards TVS brand…poor quality tyres, poor quality accessories, poor resale value & local brand.
Can you also please tell a bit about your experience with access 125 (I’m considering buying a second hand access 125 for occasional use). But from what I heard, access 125 is good only for first 2 years & breaks down after that. Is it true?
I’m sorry to say buddy but your dealer seems to have handed you an old stock. You should have checked the scooter properly before accepting the delivery. My scooty is from dec 12th batch. Sync braking sticker is pasted on the front mudguard. You don’t have to put the bike on center stand to check the sync braking in action. When i push the back brake lever, i can see the front brake lever moving automatically.
We are using kinetic honda from over 23-24 years and have replaced them after every few years untill kinetic and honda separeted. Post that, we got honda activa and kinetic nova. it been 12-13 yrs, activa was stolen and nova is gearbox needs some spare which is not available anywhere. So got an activa half year back and need another one. Had bad experience with activa, initially engine used to miss, it stopped couple of times when speed was below 5 kmph to which service centre refused to do anything untill i drove 1000 km (my usage is around 500 km per month). Then there was paint issue, and also within 2-3 months i could see it getting rust (area below foot mat, running board on both side). Poor paint job, poor quality of paint, engine was giving issue multiple times before first 1000 km (they tuned it after 1000 km but then this winter, it barely started without choke and also for fist 2 km it used to stop if speed was below 5-10 kmph). I was never willing to buy honda but parents were like ‘nothing other than honda’. Now, i need another one for my father and looking for new access 125. I’ll take access and pass activa to my father.
All i need is better engine, decent mileage, prefer metal body, and good in handling, preferable telescopic suspension with 12 inch front tyre.
I would go for access via paytm and it will cost me approx 56k, jupiter and honda 3G are also nearly in same range. So i am planing for access coz its 125cc and design is different. I tried test ride and its little high. With activa, I can site and keep my feet on ground but not in access. I am not sure if its due to 12 inch front tyre, or highest ground clearance or what. Nor do i know if i can get used to it or not. i’ll probably go this sunday to buy one, and will take one more test ride then. if not, then i may take test ride of jupiter else i would be back to activa .
Any review on access?
the only thing i like about honda was combi break system and full metal body, although metal body was little disappointment due to it getting rust within few months itself. but my last kinetic nova which is 13-14 years old broke multiple times so i want to avoid fiber body if possible, or else i’ll get body replaced after few years in zero depreciation insurance.
Got the first free service done. ODO reading during first service was 240 kms
Total cost of service including engine oil + transmission oil came out to be 350 rs. Dealer had included some 80 rs as polishing charges .
Engine feels more smooth after the first service. So far so good.
jupiter?
Need recommendation dimers
Can someone recommend me a scooter for 6.3 ft tall guy , using pulsar 150 since 6 yrs but thinking to buy scooter now.
jupiter

@dealshunter I’m sure mine was not a test drive scooter since showroom had a dedicated test ride vehicle . Moreover, i checked my bike thoroughly and it was brand new. Could tell it from those green lines on the tyres and the manufacturing sticker read Dec 12th 2016.It typically takes around a month for a vehicle to reach a dealers yard from factory.
Coming to the invoice, i did check with them and they said RTO doesn’t work on Sunday so they could not proceed with the registration today. Will give them a call and check with them regarding the invoice and road tax paid challan.
