Even with firestick, you’d need some subscriptions like hotstar VIP (to watch live cricket) and prime to watch movies.
Also, should consider your internet plan as well. Unlimited is recommended.1080p shows consume bandwidth quickly.
I have a 40Mbps 3TB per month plan (airtel). My family is slowly shifting to firestick completely.

Internet connection must be faster with unlimited data which no one gives for now
Kindly clear you facts. Airtel is giving unlimited broadband in my area for 100 MBPS no capping. Also I have BSNL FFTH it’s speed never goes down even I cross a TB
I have been using Firestick from past two years in two rooms and have completely shut D2h
Netflix: 800rs
Prime: 130rs (1000/yr)
Hotstar: 300rs (1000/yr)
Broadband: 750rs+
And you have to subscribe to even more for getting all the stuff you get on cable.
Total = 1980rs+ per month.
Firestick extra: 2400-3500rs.
How is this economical?
Netflix is 499, not 800..800 plan is for 4 devices
Bought at 1200 only…but prime should be there always….plus hotstar subscription….and WiFi connection (which is only possible in developed metro cities)
So not possible for everyone
How 1200, can or be bought now? Or you are referring to past month deal with tv

Yes thopptv and Oreo tv is working great in firestick.. but firestick remote is irrigating… !!! Because of this remote I’ve changed to dth again..!!!

I have a bluetooth keyboard linked with firestick. removes most of the inconveniences of firestick remote.
Iam using mi android box. And installed Oreo and thop tv.. these two application can easily replace the dth. The only cost I have bear is the internet cost … Along with this there are tons of application you may install on mi box…
Both the app are free of cost. So nothing apart from Internet cost.
You just need a good internet connection, and you can enjoy all the channels for free.
Also now youtube has most of the Hindi and English news channels live apart from tons of movies and interesting videos.
Do airtel broadband allow flexible recharge plans?
I mean no payment for a month/reduce payment for a month/holiday period?
This could help us reduce the effective cost.
Just to add here, I don’t like the interface of Oreo/ thop tv. Not very user friendly with firestick remote.
The biggest challenge is to changing your mindset from watching “whatever is coming on tv” to “whatever I want to watch on TV”. Its very hard to come up with something to watch. My parents in the end just say “just turn on Sony channel on dth” because they’re habitual of watching whatever is coming (along with ads).
Apps like sony liv, allow you to watch shows for free after they have been telecasted on normal TV.
Use Tata sky to add whatever limited channels you need and recharge for minimum amount. Now, every day when you need to watch TV, recharge again for 15 rupees (you need to figure out what’s your daily charge). It’s a little annoying but it’s very efficient

the perfect answer is DD Free Dish (free dth service by dooradarshan) contact nearest DTH retailer and ask for “Free to air STB”
(STB means set top box)
It lacks every single channel, its a waste.. i invested 1900₹ in it and its now a piece of crap.

Oreo TV is good. Only some channels like Star Gold Select, UTV, UTV Movies are missing.

Why hotstar doesn’t provide all the live star channels in app. Like star gold, star gold select. Even mobile in app, I found some channels but on tv they don’t have them. I can’t see starplus live chanel in tv but in mobile I can see it.
Now star plus is available live on hotstar firetv app, star gold is still missing, but they are working on it i guess ao it will be available soon.
Is hotstar vip still available on flipkart.. I could see only hotstar premium
