Cashback going to be Taxable with GST?

I was discussing with my friends whether govt can levy a tax on cashback.
With the rollout of GST from 1st July, 2017 stakes are high for more inclusion in tax net.

Can anyone explain what makes cashback taxable or taxfree?
What can we hope for? sad

Cashback is a loyalty program by companies to increase customer base. Govt takes taxes on selling of goods by e-commerce and that tax is collected from us(now).

I don’t think that cashbacks like schemes can come under GST.

Let’s wait and watch.
House rent will be under GST… let’s see how the development goes.

“Supply of goods or services to a related party without consideration, when made in the course of furtherance of business, is taxable under GST
It will come under tax net as its a service by company to a customer.
Good for us as then only option left to companies will be to provide upfront discount.
