Its true, but depends on brands, its really hard to find originals of Nike, Puma, Reebok as mentioned on quora, but for indian brands you would get original products
Not saying that you cant find originals but chances of fake are higher, it is almost impossible to distinguish

Once I bought a Levis T-shirt from Myntra and bought the exactly same T-shirt from Levis store as well (I got a Bday coupon from Levi’s).
And there was a huge difference in the quality of the two.
Myntra one was a very cheap quality product in front of that.

I don’t think they sell 1st copies only /fake branded products . they could not have become India’s largest apparel online store by selling first copies . But yes most of the offline store guys discourage us to stop buying products online stating the same logic , " Online mein Sirf Fake milta he Sir" . To them medicines being sold online on discount are also counterfeit products .
