Flipkart Warranty/Invoice Policy - Negative

This is regarding the Panasonic Microwave that I ordered from Flipkart (FK) on March 1st 2013, received the product on March 5th. The invoice I received mentions date of order as March 1st (which is correct). No where on the invoice does it mention date of receipt. I will get Panasonic warranty based on Proof of Purchase (PoP) which has only date of order. If the warranty is for one year then I will get warranty upto Feb 28 2014 from Panasonic. Ideally, the warranty commences when customer receives the product. In my case, it is March 5th.

I requested FK for another invoice with date of receipt but they said that per their company policy they can’t alter the contents of invoice to mention new date. I’m set to lose 4 days of warranty because of Flipkart.

In my case, it’s only 4 days but I’ve seen too many posts here by people mentioning that a month has gone by and they haven’t received the product after multiple followups. This is applicable to all other shopping sites. If you get a product one month after order date, you’ll lose one month on warranty totally because of seller’s fault. As a customer it’s my right to ask for proper invoice so that I get proper warranty.

This is what I’ll do from now on:

If I order from FK, I’ll order COD, check the invoice first thing on product arrival. If it doesn’t mention the date of arrival (which it won’t for sure), I’ll send it back. Let the company lose money on shipping even if it’s their in house facility. Usually they have invoice inside the packaging, that’s another reson to send the product back because they won’t allow you to open the package to check invoice. How many loopholes FK has, interesting.

This post is just to share my experience with you guys. You should also insist on correct invoice even if the shipping time is just 2 days. You never know when the product will fail. Sometimes it so happens that the product fails in last 1-2 days of warranty. I’ve heard many real life stories of such cases.

Thanks for reading.

exactly,
but buddy your points more or less applies to all online merchants,
u have already committed to shop online from international portals only not any fk thing,

so thanks for sharing the views, but we are not so much QUALITY concerned, so easily lured by the discounts.

@buddy

itne din kahan the, agar apne kuch timpy se khareeda hota to zarror lets band bazaye ho jata.

Bhai, It’s not about Quality. It’s about asking for what is rightfully mine. I’m not asking them to do me a favor or something. If they can fulfill their commitments, consider that a big favor.
And that 30 day thing, it’s a tool they use to sell products. Wouldn’t you feel safe buying knowing that if something turns out defective with your product, the company will replace it? But what happens when this nightmare turns out to be true? You get to know the real thing about a company. Also, my two transactions with FK has enlightened me just about everything that I can expect from this company under any situation.

I’ve lost trust in FK. I don’t know if I’ll buy from them ever again even though they stand out from the crowd out there. Do you know if they have any office in Delhi/Gurgaon besides the one in Bangalore?

I’ve been right here, watching and reading you guys; just didn’t post for few days. Was working on something…

About your issue… Bro, you started with one thing and you end up writing something else. Your first post talks about invoice date/warranty period being affected which anyone would say is not a big matter at all.
But your latest post talks about something else altogether. It’s about flipkart’s 30 days replacement guarantee. And what you have raised here is a genuine issue and is not expected from FK. They seem to have changed their policies, of late. This was not the case when I bought an iron from them a year ago.

Lol. I wasn’t even thinking of writing about 30 day replacement but how their policy on this dawned on me was worth sharing. I just didn’t want to create a new thread unnecessarily.

Also, I’ve observed they offered me this warranty on the Hair Clipper that I bought but refused on Microwave. Clipper was delivered by a guy on bike and Microwave by another vehicle that carries bulk products. During my conversations with their Customer Care I was told that Bulk Products are delivered by a special vehicle and delivery may get delayed because they wait for more bulk orders for specific area, so that they can ship all of them together, to save costs.
Possibly because of this reason (or something else) they may have refused replacement. But whatever the reason, one of my reason of buying such a heavy product was that 30 day thing and the good feedback floating around. I thought I was safe with FK. I would’ve never ordered such a product from other sites…

I was wondering and reading (at Akosha) about what is the last option to a consumer if nothing works out with a company. One has to resort to legal option and approach Consumer Forum even if sending a Notice doesn’t suffice. The consumer case can be admitted in the District Forum where the company has either its office or branch or some other activity that can be linked to purchase. So, if a customer stays in a location far away (as in my case) from where company’s operational activities take place, pursuing a legal option is expensive. This is a deterrent to consumers and a tool for companies to exploit. And, majority of Indians are ever ready to be exploited. No one wants to fight for their rights…
Anyway.

@ buddy

As a layman, one can argue that co. Has activities all over India, as oder placed place or at least at the address of shipment,
But cos. Can’t appoint lawyers all over the country hence, mention in the terms that al legal disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of xyz courts, and we have agree with that for purchase.

E commerce still needed good amount of improvements.

What is this, buddy? That’s the normal procedure followed. If you do this with indiatimes, then that’s understandable. But flipkart has the best rated delivery time in India. (There may be lapses in one or two cases.) You are stretching things beyond justification. Not nice on your part. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_eek.gif

I think you’re right. FK has good shipping times but this post has nothing to do with shipping times. This is about warranty. Four days of warranty don’t make a difference and people including myself won’t ask company for this. But the point is they must have a policy for it in place just in case someone asks for an updated Invoice. Flatly refusing to issue one is not considered ethical or fair by any means. I didn’t really want a new invoice but just wanted to see how they will respond, and it’s a revelation.
