HBO had about 40 million cable TV subscriptions ( Weekly episodes ) back in 2011 itself
The Show gained popularity in its first year itself (via US audience) and piracy back then was so so, it gained full momentum after HBO GO/Now services were launched in multiple countries. If the show had been aired on Hulu/Starz/AMC, i would’ve said piracy contributed a lot. Its just that we made a popular show more popular via piracy
We (Indians) got to know how popular this show is (During/After S1) but the Indian version of HBO didn’t have it so we pirated it
Even though Hotstar started streaming GOT from 2016, there used to be a delay until S7 so we still pirated it
In 2017, Hotstar started airing season 7 live (same time as US) so many got Hotstar premium for this reason + banks like HDFC also had attractive offers for 3 months/6 months packages
It will be aired at 9.00pm in U.S time. So wait for one more day. You can get them on popular torrent sites. Don’t know torrent sites ? Google it….
