I searched and at last had to create this thread..since found no dedicated thread to this
please suggest best health insurance plans.
Had shortlisted 2 plans of HDFC ergo (erstwhile Apollo munich)

1. Health wallet plan
2. Optima Restore

Costing for Health wallet plan-
5 lakhs- 19914/- (including res benefit 5000)
10 lakhs- 30083 (including res benefit 10000)

Costing for optima restore plan-
5 lakhs- 13470/- (including res benefit 5000)
10 lakhs- 17527/- (including res benefit 10000)

My basic requirements as per current inflation scenario and tier-2 medical cost-
1. 10 lakhs approx
2. 3 members (including 1 child)
3. Good network hospitals
4. Claim settlement

Any other suggestions viz other company plans etc..u want to suggest

p.s- Is company cover provided free of cost enough to cover medical expenses

There is no such thing as best policy. No policy works for everyone and all insurance companies are equally good or bad.
Your medical profile is one factor that would decide this.

In general, I would say go for one

  • that does not have room rent limit,
  • that doesn’t have restore benefits,
  • that doesn’t have top-up benefits,
  • that doesn’t have co-pay option,
  • that doesn’t have health-checkup benefits

These things either increases the premium or puts you at a disadvantage, without ever being of any benefit to you.

thanks bro for help
one suggestion more, I have coverage from office as well with topup facilities.
Should i go for external cover as well along with official one, or should i split me , wife and my kid in external plan (as premium would b less)
and take official cover for parents. (as premium would be subsidied)

I have Manipal Cigna, from last 2 years. Best part is 2k person for OTC medicines and hence we get 6k back every year.
Also, 30% tax saving for health insurance. I pay around 19k, for family of 3 for 5.5L per person.
My agent does all the paper without any charges including OTC bills. Doesnt cost me an extra penny.

I can’t say worth or not. But I can vouch for what I am using. There is clause if increased Sum assured if no claims. Infact everyone provides that now a days
