Home theater vs 5.1 speaker

what is the diff between home theater and 5.1 speaker.
for instance hometheater comes along with DVD and speakers are attached to it.
can those home theater speakers be connected to the smart tv as well like 5.1 speakers..pls confirm

You can see the above connectors of HT’s Speakers can not be plugged into typical available ports of your TV,So No direct connections possible but via HT amplifier .
