Jabong Handling/Shipping Charges non-refundable

As some of you might have noticed, Jabong has started charging Rs 100 as handling/shipping charges for orders below Rs 1000.

I just initiated a return for one of my orders that was below Rs 1000 and found out that the Rs 100 they charged me for handling is non-refundable.

They just lost some of my business.

Have any other online stores started following the same policy where handling/shipping charges are non-refundable?

So in case I place an order for more than 1k, say 1100 and return something from my order worth 500. So, my final order amount would be less than 1k. Would they deduct the 100rs shipping from the refund as well?

You want them to do it or what? https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

How could they do it? They didn’t charge for shipping in the first place. https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_lol.gif

In this case you not be losing 100 shipping as you didn’t get charged in the first place, but if you used mobi payment option, your CB from mobi is lost plus if you had used any CB site for this order, that CB is gone as well.

Double whammy for partial returns/exchanges.

Yes, but now my order amount would be less than 1k, how can we be sure that they wouldn’t do it?

Returns are a separate category altogether. They can’t do it. But we should think if it’s really worth the time/energy, it’s hundred bucks after all. We also get our money blocked all that time. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

you shy of calling the respective call centres or did Radhe Maa asked you never to get clarifications from company (even if number is not chargeable) ??

assumptions: The simplest of things get complicated thus!

The change (of the over-head: Handling charges) was effected from 11-Aug-2015.

The old funda of shipping charges is shrewdly shifted out to GoJavas for managing taxation.
[while ‘income’ is subject to marginal rate of taxes and ALL surcharges and cess, ‘expenses’ paid TO xyz entities will not be clubbed to normal business income and will be deductible from taxable income.]

Jabong Scenario (w.e.f. Aug 11, 2015) :

1] You bought something of 700Rs. you paid 700 plus 100 (C&F) : Total 800
>> You return/ replace out of YOUR OWN choice.
<< You receive Rs.700 as F&F (full and final settlement)

2] You bought two things, of Rs. 600 and Rs. 700, BOTH in a single invoice/Order.
=-= You paid 1300Rs
>> You return/ replace SKU1 billed at Rs. 600 out of YOUR OWN choice.
<< You receive Rs.600 as F&F (full and final settlement)

3] You bought blue leggings [or any item], say of Rs. 800 in a single invoice/Order.
=-= You paid 900Rs [800 + 100]
>> You receive a violet legging [or any item that was NOT ordered],
>< Jabong request you to return/ or initiate refund procedure as correct item unavailable or you no longer want the hassle
<< You receive Rs.900 as F&F (full and final settlement)

So basically GoJavas (whose principals include the promoters of Lenskart, Paytm, Jabong) gets ‘paid’ the proportional charges for all its services and thus seller (and/or the portal) is no longer to be charged to sales tax or business income.

Check this hypothetical and fictional example:
https://cdn0.desidime.com/attachments/photos/353530/medium/2499250-snapdeal.jpg?1481001349

why pay more when one can get away by paying the government less than 15-20%.
Reducing product list prices and increasing shipping/C&F overheads can lead to as much as 10-12% increased operating margins in some scenarios in the long run.

.
.

think if it’s really worth the time/energy,

so true @Magus :sniff: :kry: reminds me of a recent incident that had me seething in rage.

guy made me wait two days to buy a 40-50Rs medication. ‘because it will be a saving of 20-25% if we buy from dawa bazaar (the wholesale/ B2B market for medical supplies)’ . The rascal tried to get the requisite list from all and sundry for the trip buying to overshoot 4-5000. He has his way of faking to be a chemist from some rural area and thus gets medicines at the rate retailers/ chemists buy.

the trip cost him more petrol and time than the savings as (un)luckily the Roche/ Accu-Chek distributor shop was closed that day and final buying was under 1500-1700.

so yes, it is pathetic when people are penny wise and £ foolish.
(yes the 40-50Rs OTC medication I wanted did come at 23% less than MRP, but that isn’t the point. Wastefully chasing a ‘deal’/ cost cutting is sick.)

basant for everything, a crusade is not feasible (nor required). I think a very simple and effective alternate is given in the last line by 1cooldesidd in the main post. One can always take their business elsewhere.

This reality apart (charges, changes in structure) , one ‘fact’ which I think still holds merit IS

that the willingness and courtesy of the folks at Jabong to resolve or even generally help is par excellence. [I could say it is even better than Amazon in certain aspects]

The feed-back does reach the decision-makers at Xerion Retail P Limited and gets acted upon where required.

Also, reaching their mid management or other relevant function head for anyone who can use http://linkedi...m/ and http://verify-ema...rg https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif is ’child’s play’ [believe it. try it]

no social media or tweeting bullshit is required https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_lol.gif

have got calls from H.O. once when I’d marked one cc to manu at jabong dot com just as trial.
They wanted to know how I got the emails L0L. The issue of-course was already resolved much prior .
(it was long before he shifted out to think about gynger or whatever his electronics business/site is. Bloke ended up joining Chowmei(n) instead)

I did not have the heart to tell them that I myself skimmed linkedin for names and later tested possible email formats. so i fibbed to them https://cdn0.desidime.com/Placeholders/No-Image-Available.pnghttps://cdn0.desidime.com/Placeholders/No-Image-Available.png

@Ishan Don Sir/Bhai got your sandesh https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif . Though flattering, i’d be too embarrassed to think of it. (coming as it is from YOU).

I can only dream to be an apprentice or understudy of MOST Dimers here. too savvy, sharp, shrewd, dynamic.
I can never even imagine to have one of you as assistant.

Yes it is true that of the 25-30 main names I pinged in Jabong, 10-11 turned out to be Vice Presidents.
https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_evil.gif https://cdn0.desidime.com/Placeholders/No-Image-Available.png the damn Linkedin profiles were not updated and it seems in start-ups every second person becomes a VP in few days https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_evil.gif

The person who called (me due to concern from the internal teams) was from the direct office of the Mathew fellow or whoever was handling the charge from Manu at that time.

As for service tax versus sales tax versus VAT (or G.S.T.) manipulation by on-line sellers, I am not even properly aware one hundredth of

what a proper taxation person or someone updated on the current changes in SOGA. So perhaps an accountancy person like mkshakya or soocerG would have much better understanding and better / simpler ways to explain how to shift profits from one file to another.

mostly Reliance, Sanghvi, Birlas were/are kings of cross-holdings and shifting profits.
now of-course the complications of international trade and holding company in HK, Mauritius, Caymen Islands route is taken to tease the I.T Dept. and FinMin.

ohh https://cdn0.desidime.com/Placeholders/No-Image-Available.png this is indeed wrong on my part.

I shouldn’t have responded isn’t it, irrespective of that this was posed as a generic issue in an open discussion.

Really feel bad, I do not know if it merits some stringent action on me from @Nigel or some @administrator

i will refrain from saying anything any further.

Apologies @Sharingan
