Some TT users even reported in comments that broadband would be available even without landline connection….
BSNL users can now enjoy unlimited broadband at 1Mbps even after crossing their FUP limit. The revision is applicable for all existing as well as new subscribers of PAN India, Circle/SSA-specific and FTTH unlimited broadband plans with post FUP speed 512kbps.
BSNL has also announced the withdrawal of broadband plans BBG Combo ULD 3500, BBG Combo ULD 6300, Fibro Home ULD 850 CS1 and Fibro Home ULD 1400 CS2. However, existing subscriber can continue using this plan or migrate to other plans.
Check below for revised plans

There are many locations in Delhi where MTNL is the only option

I remember going through one of the topic in Quora with the question – Which is more painful no internet or slow internet?
Looks like we Indians clearly understands that pain.

Yesterday only i got my BSNL BB disconnected due to this 512 Kbps speed. Took a connection from the local ISP 1 Mbps ULD @ 799.
BSNL BB seems to be cheaper now.
i just gave the application few hours back for temporary removal of bsnl broadband connection just to find out the news from this thread that bsnl is going to increase the speed.but nonetheless shukhar hai rab ka that bsnl atleast is going to give us 1mb unlimited.most of the cities here donot even have an isp other than bsnl to choose from and so users are stuck with bsnl.

I am also the first customer for my local ISP. Now i need to go to his office to screw him off for charging me more then BSNL.
Was thinking to convert my connection to 2Mbps ULD @ 1399. Railwire is also a better alternative to Bsnl BB.
hope railwire also announce any offer due to jio

I think there would be a change definitely as all ISP’s buy bandwidth from larger players only….
So when bigger players would be changing the game scenario then all small/big ISP would be introducing amazing plans for youth India
But but but for next 2-3 years we should not expect a huge change, maybe Rs.50-80 per GB pricing would be dominating with better speeds

Trend is Wifi
As bsnl is now placing wifi router in important places in my town (Tamilnadu)..bus stand, mall and railway station as they got permission yesterday only, so within 2 weeks they launch it.
so within 2-3 years we get access to wifi in most area of city, wifi means, bandwidth price will be lower than 3g or 4g.

yep sadly from North to South this is a problem. govt service guys don’t care. my mom and dad was govt servants don’t want to degrade bsnl but this is a fact.i heard from a senior bsnl employee if they concentrated on Bsnl as major telecommunication rather than selling major things to private. Bsnl would have been a major network in the world and govt jobs will be increased alot. none of the govt cares.
wow great news for me i am using bsnl bb in my home 1000 rs plan per month 2 mbps for 8gb and 512 kbps after that
but here they mentioned ‘’BSNL to increase FUP limit for broadband plans’’ not post FUP
see this

The decisions must have been taken separately. After all, it’s a govt. body.
Using Bsnl bb loyally for past about 10 years. Many times thought to change ISP but still Bsnl does the job. Connection problem and all are present with all ISPs. Right now using 2mbps plan for 699rs with 100 calls free.
Night calling is a great feature using that too saves money on TT recharge.

Gujarat. And yea it’s 2mbps till 10 GB but after fup speed still remained the same for me. Will check now if it drops to 1 Mbps.
