Jio Fraud. Which among Airtel and Vod-Idea is better?

I’ve shifted all mine and my household connections to JIO about last 2 years. However, now planning to shift all connections back to Airtel / Vod-Idea.

Reason: JIO is not disconnecting inactive SIM cards in my name which I had taken during the free period. Though I’ve thrown these SIMs away, JIO themselves recharge these numbers once in a while and show that these are active. I’ve raised requests for cancellation since early 2017, most recent being a week before, and they are not willing to disconnect these numbers. (I’ve told them either they keep my inactive numbers in my name, or my active numbers. They seem to be interested more in inactive numbers).

Question: Which amongst Airtel / Vod-Idea is better nowadays. Do one / both of them also provide advance recharge options like JIO? What about roaming – Is all roaming including SMS free in either / both? And also ISD tariff – does Airtel / Vod-Idea has flat ISD tariffs/packs that work during roaming as well? (In JIO all calls/sms are free while roaming, and ISD tariff/packs work same during roaming).

Airtel speed is better than jio and idea. If u recharge monthly and three month pack then it is best.

Speed depends on location.

Does Airtel has advance recharge option? Like stacking up multiple recharge packs?
And what about roaming plans and tariffs?

Lucky you. My uncharged and unused Jio sim was disconnected few months back.
Neither Airtel nor iFone are as good as Jio in most places. So, check in your area and decide.

Same here.

We had 4-5 extra Jio numbers during the free period. They all got deactivated because we didn’t recharge.

Like said above, it entirely depends on your location. In my location for voice call consistency it goes like this-

Vodafone >> Jio >>>> airtel

For data speed-

Jio >> Vodafone >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> airtel

And no, no damned Advanced recharge options in Vodafone at least. No idea about roaming.

Location- Outskirts of Calcutta.

Anyone from Airtel? Does Airtel has option to recharge from main balance?

Also, if anyone knows about roaming plans/tariffs for Airtel/Idea, please tell the details.

Not available for Airtel too. I think every SIM cards are now all India roaming, so no extra charges. Don’t know about international roaming.

You should port in your inactive numbers to VIL (aka Vodafone Idea Ltd) as they are the ones who disconnect numbers quickly if not used within 90 days for continuous period. smileRecently one of my Idea no. which I needed was disconnected even after recharge as it was not used for 30 days (no network, sim was out). Also they are getting rid of non-active customers more quickly than others as merger conditions telling upon them. I get rid of multiple sim myself. Had 5. Now 2 only. Jio+BSNL- Life Jinga Bala. Airtel/Idea/Voda sim closed.

Think again! AVOID will take you for a ride with all dirty tricks like deductions/activation etc.
They deliberately do not want users to Q up recharges.
As long as call and data connectivity is good with Jio, stick to Jio as other issues are manageable.

Call and data connectivity are good.

However, I now have 5 JIO sims in my name. 2 active and ported from other networks.
3 non-active numbers which they are unwilling to disconnect for the past 2+ years. I don’t think it is good to have so many numbers in your name. I simply want to get rid of these.

Jio is best if you have network, but how many places have proper network for jio?. I am from Bangalore and I did’t find proper network at my home, I requested them several times to install 1 small antenna and we are ready to shift all existing connections to their network, but why do they care as they are more comfortable than government employees.

If you know that numbers are in your name and you obviously what’s details you provided then simply call Jio care or chat with them via Myjio app and report those sim as lost/stolen. The agent will ask some basic details of the I’d you submitted while activation of the sim. Once correct details provide. They will block it immediately and then after some time it will be deactivated and will rolled out again this new customer.

Done this exercise a few dozen times over the ‘years’. Every time they claim they’ll disconnect at the end of the ‘present’ period – apparently 31 March of the ongoing year; but they never fulfill the promise.

They’re simply interested to bloat numbers like recently claiming ‘300 million active customers’, because they themselves recharge some celebration packs and even small recharges of Rs.59 and like to keep the numbers active. Going by my experience, JIO’s actual active customers shouldn’t cross 200 million even in a best-case scenario, and should actually be somewhere between 100-150million.

Anyway, thanks for all the replies. I finally spoke to customercare no.s of Airtel/Idea/Vodafone. Everyone claims that their network also support stacking up of multiple recharge plans. And while roaming tariffs are same across states for making ISD calls and national calls/sms are free in unlimited packs. Will start switching numbers one by one. (Network coverage and speed are almost same for all).

At last all providers are same. The only difference is there network coverage which varies place to place. So choose the one who best suits ur locality.
