As many people have started receiving this “monster” device (original thread – http://www.desidime.com/forums/hot-deals-online...), I would like to create a thread dedicated to LG Optimus E970 users. You can post reviews, queries, ROMs, hardware issues, accessories etc.

This thread should help me dimers https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Dear All, My LG-e970 is rooted and I had removed bloatwares. It was perfectly fine for past 2 or 3 months, until day before yesterday , since when I am not receiving any SMS.

I am able to send SMS (checked on my wife’s mobile). I am on Delhi’s MTNL dolphin Network.

can any one tell if it could be carrier issue or Phone’s? ( My friend’s MTNL dolphin of same plan working ok for SMS send receive, I have checked)

If I do need to factory reset, can I do as its arooted and bloatwares removed? Will it not search for pre-installed apps?

Pl help.
Thanks:

Gyan

Just try using your sim on some other mobile phone and see if you are able to receive messages.

As far as factory reset goes then yes.. you’ll be able to do a factory reset as and when you like to do.. If you have removed bloatware from system/apps folder then even after doing factory reset they wont come back and android system wont complain to you for that too https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Thanks Mystguy..
My SMS problem got solved, I erased the SMS service Number, rebooted phone and then sms started coming..I found that even when I was not having the actual SMS service gateway number, still sms was working.. I guess the phone is storing the info somewhere else and directly getting the number from Mobile carrier thru broadcast..correct me if anyone has actual info.. Thank you all.. Love this group..

Hi Dimers ,
I have been using optimus G since 3 months now … But few things i found really complex like rooting and Enabling wifi hotspot …. Now most important for me is Changing Android id. I saw a few people saying here that they could change their android id with Custom Roms. It sounds too complex using custom rom’s. Any way to change android id without using custom ROM ? I used Android id changer but that change id button is disabled. In case i go for custom ROM , which one is best and safest with Kitkat ? Also is it possible to come back to original android from a customized ROM ? Would appreciate if anyone can explain the process for installing the best custom ROM which has an option to change android id too..

Guys, i need some help from you guys…i have messed up my E970 phone’s network.
Actually, i messed up with its EFS parititon and now i am not getting any network in my phone. My phone is ON, everything working but it is not detecting any sim https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif
i read on XDA forum and got that i need to replace my EFS paritions again with system actual EFS partition file.

Any user friend who has E970 and who is rooted, pls download below file and run in recovery to back up the phone’s EFS parition, then pls mail me that backed up EFS parition file so that i can replace it to run my sim card:

http://dl.xda-developers.com/attachdl/2b048194d...

pls download, its only 1 MB file and it will create a single file of small size (in KBs), that file will be placed in /sd card/ EFS_backup

pls mail me that file to save my phone…pls help ppl…it will not take much of your time…help

The link isnt working

Will PM you the files.

I am too stuck with this problem. I will really appreciate if somebody can send me file.

Okay, posting an important update (if its not already discussed)

It looks like LG had emulated this sd card slot and its not a hard coded slot which means that apps can’t be moved to SD card either directly or through any app2sd card apps. So, we’re crippled with 11GB something internal storage for all app data.

I found a workaround to this problem. There is an app called Foldermount which can link files from the internal sd card and create the same files on external SD cards. So, its like creating shortcuts on Windows and putting that folder in some other drive.

It requires root permission and pretty simple to use.

app link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=c...

how to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?...

Read mini how to carefully in xda thread. Step 5 is really important. You have to hit the pin button once all files are moved. Only then will it work. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Wait for Some time Stock Kitkat for LG OG is out in Korea should be soon coming / ported to OG E970. But if you are in a hurry use AOSP !! purest ROM !! And everything you try with xposed / Gravitybox / XBlasttools will definitely work !! So you will get unlimited customization plus awesome Battery life https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

For all E970 users on kitkat, here are some simple yet useful tips to save battery

http://www.androidheadlines.com/2013/11/increas…

These may look simple but it seems to me that in kitkat many google services like search and voice detection are culprits. Try these tricks to see if it works.

P.S: “OK, Google” is not okay!!! Disable that first. Specially with E970 battery draining like hell. Remember, android is always waiting for you to say ok,google if you enable it. Also, haptic feedback, vibration on keypress, vibration in all app settings, and tick sounds etc, disable all that. Finally, the screen lock sound is supposed to cause wakelocks. Disable that in sound settings.

Yup it is worth it !! https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif Already running kitkat ! To Fix Notification LED’s either use Xposed + Xblast or Gravitybox or use Lightflow Pro !

Just a heads up ! To get it working at first go take care of the following :-

1)Do not use TWRP recovery . Use Philz CWM Recovery to get the correct results. TWRP is not consistent. TWRP Sometimes work’s whereas sometimes leads to a bootloop (in which you need to flash the boot.img again from the stock 4.4.2 zip !!!)
Philz CWM recovery :-
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B9EFp1W…

or

http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edi…

2) Its better to be on Stock JB (Require Stock JB Modem) and then update to 4.4.2 Stock ! So LGNPST to 4.1.2 JB + Freegee to unlock Bootloader + Flash Philz CWM as mentioned above.

Then follow the instructions mentioned in OP :-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?…

For fixing Notification LED’s use Light Flow (Pro) !!

I flashed the rom and the SD card fix. Everything works fine. Now I need to setup APN for BSNL. How to do that? I tried sending model number to 58355. It didnt work. Is there any app to setup APN?

If phone is not physically damaged, try resetting the device and see if this helps.
