My Jio plan expired a few days ago..

Is there any way of checking how long the sim will be active for?

And . what is the minimum recharge/ cheapest way to keep that sim active.. just in case I need it at some future point.
98/month doesnt seem too cheap.

Personally tried. It was active for 4 months without any packs.

Is there any email letting me know if the sim is going to expire?

Do I keep checking.. what if it suddenly deactivates?

There’s no validity extension concept in Jio. If you don’t receive incoming calls or text messages for consecutive 90 days, then the Sim gets deactivated.

Do OTP counts as valid SMS?

No minimum. Incoming works all the time.
If your area is congested and there are no incoming messages or calls for 5-6 months, then they might deactivate the number. If not, then your number won’t get deactivated at all.

@karandutta if you want outgoing calls then you need to recharge 98/- for every month. if you don’t need outgoing calls then recharge with 10rs topup atleast once in every 3 months.

I too don’t know either. Do they have any service packs like 23,35 rs to keep sim alive? It’s because, i think, they don’t deactivate even we don’t recharge. But to keep alive, any minimum pack in 6 months is recommended.

Are we sure just a 10 rs top up with no talktime can keep it alive?

The FAQs on the website says no recharge in 90 days “can” mean the sim is disabled.. so 90 days should be safe..

I just dont know if I need a proper recharge (98rs) or just top ups will work.

“minimum 10rs recharge topup for every 3 months” is a real experience from most of the dimers smile
