Google has now enabled an extension called Netflix party. Through this extension, you can stream together with your friends.

Netflix Party is a free tool that enables its users to play, pause, fast forward and rewind what they are streaming. The tool’s main agenda is to keep everyone involved on the same page to give a feeling of togetherness when people are not in the same room. The tool gives access to handle the controls to everyone who is invited in a group. Other than this, Netflix Party has a side chat bar, which enables the members of a group to discuss things about a movie in a group. As of now, it is not clear how many people can join this party simultaneously.

Here’s how you can download and install the Netflix extension:

Users must note that anyone who wishes to join this group or party if you may, must have a Netflix extension. For new subscribers, Netflix has enabled a 30-day free trial.

To download the extension, follow the given steps

Download and install Netflix on your system
Visit netflixparty.com. This must be done on a Google Chrome browser.
You will be redirected to download Google Chrome web store and will be asked if you want to download the extension.
Click Add to Chrome.
A pop-up box will open. Select Add-Extension.
An NP icon will appear in your browser toolbar.

Here’s how you can watch series, movies together:

Open a new tab on your Google Chrome browser.
Log into your Netflix account.
A Netflix Party (NP) will appear. The icon would have changed from grey to red.
Click on the NP icon.
Select Start the party
Once you click on start the party, you become the host, who is like an admin to a group
Just like an admin, you can either give access to the controls to the rest of the group or keep them restricted to yourself.
A pop-up box will appear. Copy the URL from the pop-up box and send it to everyone you want to invite to your virtual party.
A chatroom will appear on the right hand side of the window.
From here, you can see who has joined the group, the chats also take place on this window.
