Hi
Till date I have an old crt TV, and finally I have ordered LED. Now I didn’t purchase anything fancy, just a 40" vu FHD TV. Can you guys suggest what other accessories should I buy? Like HDMI/USB cables, or firestick, extra speakers and all? I do have a USB extension cable which I can use for any pen drive, was planning on HDMI to connect laptop(maybe). Not sure if I really need extra speakers(only thinking because reviews suggest some trouble with audio). Thought about these casting devices because of the YouTube and prime video content. If someone can guide, giving pros and cons, and why should I buy an accessory, pressing on the actual need and use, would be great. Thanks for any help!
PS: since some sales are going on, I thought it to be right time to buy the accessories, else I will wait till I get hang of this new TV. Much appreciated!

The first thing you need is a decent pair of external speakers with a subwoofer. For a average viewer a 2.1 speaker system would suffice. No matter how loud youe LED speakers are they will never produce any bass. You will see the difference you connect your tv to speakers. Don’t believe the reviews claiming awesome sound from tv.

If your tv is not a smart tv you might wabt to check devices like chromecast of fire stick. Otherwise a big HDMI cable to connect your laptop might also suffice. Buy a longer cable (atleast 3m) do use it without making too many adjustments. Don’t forget to get a wireless mouse if you plan to connect your laptop to watch movies.

Whether you purchase a casting device or not, an HDMI cable is a must in my view. Movies played via a USB stick can’t be controlled properly through a tv remote. I prefer the controls which are offered by VLC/SMplayer. So I always connect my laptop to watch movies. It sits on a table or stool and I control it with a wireless mouse.

But, that too is with people who are finicky like me. Most them are more that happy with the USB plaback.

This is based on my personal experience.

If u will upgrade to hd set top box it generally comes with hdmi cable… U can remove it and plug into ur desired device whenever necessary

I really appreciate both the inputs. So basically whatever accessories I thought to buy seem almost necessary. I’ll buy an HDMI for starters, let me see if I really get time to use some casting device. For HDMI cable, what kind of cable? I mean I never used one. And when I check online they have so many types, a b c, 1 2 3 etc.

Something super cheap like this would suffice. You can look around a bit and explore.

I have brought it sometime back and it still works perfectly.

Make sure to a flat one as it doesn’t twist, is durable and easy to store. And please don’t try to put your set top box cable to multiple use. It can be very tiring switching it back and forth every time if you connect your laptop frequently. And not to mention it would be very short.

I think a small shelf should be added to the list of you’re wall mounting the TV.

I would like to add something here. When you wall mount your television, and there is no shelf or anything below it, you’ll need a speaker for sure. But if you keep it on a table or put a wooden shelf below the speakers, the sound output becomes quite good. Thought this would helpful. Noticed this thing after almost 5 months of use!
