Now Restaurants, shops, malls, banks can open 24x7: Model Shops and Establishment Act.

In Short: Was just watching CNBC Awaaz, this new Act although allows for 24*7 operations however State govt. can put restrictions on timings considering law, safety and other factors. Also new jobs would be created after this move….

News: Along with the 7th Pay Commission which will hike the salaries of over 1 crore central government employees, the Cabinet on Wednesday, also gave its nod to the new Model Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of services) Act 2015.

According to this act, restaurants, shops, malls, cinema halls, banks and IT firms, will all be allowed to remain open 24/7 for 365 days.

Under then new act, all the shops and establishments that are not covered under the Factories Act, will be allowed to operate 24/7 across 365 days. According to the Act, all the establishments that have over 10 employees, come under the act.
