44k for the base variant is a bit too much (OP8)
+ I don’t think there will be Indian launch / price announcement (even if they do globally) considering the rumors of lockdown extension

Yes..I have seen it
Xiaomi also was supposed to launch Mi 10 on March 31 but they postponed it because of lockdown (No virtual launch too?)
I feel the same might happen now

Online event is likely to happen, as ecommerce sites are asking for permission for delivery of products including phone’s, even if the lockdown extends

OP 8Pro at $899 + taxes in US, assuming an average of 8% sales tax in US the price in $ would be $971 which translates to approximately INR 74000. Assuming we get some special pricing because of tax benefits I don’t think the base variant of OP 8 Pro would be any cheaper than 65k here in India. Especially considering the fact that GST on mobile phones has been raised from 12% to 18% now.

Going by the same logic, OP8 might be 50k to 52k at best.

If I am wrong and the prices are actually as per the leaked image above it would be a highly aggressive pricing by OP in India compared to global markets.

Shouldn’t compare USA prices with Indian prices.
Indian prices are more likely to be in line with China prices.
It is launching in China on 16th, so we will get a better idea of Indian pricing then.

OP 7T + 500mAH + SD 10 (865 – 855) + 5G = OP 8
OP 7T + X = 50000
X = 50000 – 35000 = 15000
So,
X = 15000 = 500mAH + SD 10 (865 – 855) + 5G

Is X worth 15000?

But the previous prices of OnePlus devices in US were directly comparable to the price in India. Why the exception for OP 8 Pro then?

Worthiness isn’t a calculation of individual component price hike. It’s a relative comparison with the competition and effectiveness of those better components.

For me, any good phone performs quite well if only the speed is concerned. I pay the extra bucks for better camera and design. Design wise, I always hate curved edges ( I have commented about it earlier as well) so I prefer a more flatter screen any day.

Camera on OP 8 Pro seems to be great but then again, a wee bit inferior to Pixel 4 series, iPhone 11 series and S20 series as per reviews so far.

5G isn’t even available yet and will take good 3 to 5 years more in India considering the pathetic situation telecos already were in and the current economic turmoil

Better battery life is always a welcome move.

I personally, and I am assuming most others out there as well, have not even made good use of the power of SD855 and we are talking about SD865. What do you do with that extra power? Apart from being more power efficient and giving a better battery life I see no practical advantage of 865 over 855 for most like me. That said, any flagship will always sport the best and latest processor anyways so can’t negate that.

So tell me, what exactly is that extra 15k worth?

For me, other than the battery I don’t see much value in this upgrade. Only for 500mAH, I won’t pay 15k

@cocay my opinion is no different. In fact, I see OP 7 Pro as a value for money device now biggrin

As someone rightly said, if you can get an OP 7 Pro used one on OLX for 25k it would be a great buy. OP was anyways offering 2 years warranty as an offer on most days so even the used OP 7 Pro that we can get would be under warranty
