Personal medical insurance dilemma

I am leaving my job in early december & joining new company in early january. During december, I will be traveling internationally.

My question is that I have my medical insurance from my company which will be null and void as soon as i leave the company. So basically I will be without insurance in december which is when i will need it the most (due to international travel).

What is your suggestion guys? I think I should have a personal medical insurance over and above the company provided one? Can this personal insurance become active in next 10 days so that I can travel worry free?

Your insurance is not valid internationally anyway. You need to take travel insurance for your trip.
