Just read name of Ping mobile on Wikipedia. Couldn’t find any info. Is it still operational or shutdown or aquired by someone?? Couldn’t find any info online about it. It was operational in punjab. Found a telecomtalk article from 2009.

As far as i remember it was only operational for an year or so.
Also, people stopped using them after few months itself because most of the numbers were running on ids not provided by users.
Services were stopped abruptly and to renew they were asking for ids again and this happened again and again. They had introduced some good plans but were unable to get a hold over the market. They offered CDMA handsets also, since basic handsets of Reliance CDMA and Tata Docomo were network locked although could be unlocked for 50-100 Rs.

ping first introduced 1p/sec…stopped 4-5 years ago..takeover by videocon…ppl were given choice to port to videocon
It was operated by HFCL. There was some controversy. Don’t remember much.
