This is not in Hot deals bro. And it is not misusing, it is a free trial. Also You will automatically get free delivery on orders above Rs. 499. Its for those who wants to buy less than 499.

And if it increases sale of Amazon, then what’s bad in that? https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif

Prime service exists for a reason and that is unlimited free shipping including 1-day and 2-day at least for now in India. They will never ban you just because you ordered ‘n’ times. Else why would people pay for such a service?

Exactly. But now that it’s offered free for two months, our great citizens must have already started screwing Amazon by ordering the lightning deals from as many accounts as possible. This will in turn backfire as Amazon getting more stringent with their policies, like the withdrawal of refund policy in electronics. The world should learn from us regarding the art of ruining good things for oneself and the others.
I don’t think they will dare to extend the free trial period in this country. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

@Magus Rest assured, Amazon must have already accounted for such use (or misuse) of the free trial. We do not need to worry about them retracting the trial or something drastic like that.

But, as I told another dimer privately, they will likely reduce the trial period to 30-days to keep it in line with what they offer in the US. Moreover, they will probably also be doing some trial and error when it comes to the subscription pricing over the next few months once the free trials get over and people start to pay for the subscription.

But I will urge dimers to not go crazy and place many individual orders for everything that catches their eye. Try to order a few things at a time, not for Amazon’s sake, but for the sake of our environment (think packaging waste & transportation of each of those single-item orders).

They must’ve already had an algorithm in place rating every amazon user account to dole out comparative customer service, compensations and offers just like every other e-comm site does. Also, we must disregard the notion that Amazon is just an innocent foreign company that is oblivious to the nature of its customers. Its been more than 2 years and they’ve had sufficient time to re-adjust their policies and understand the user base(which reflects in its min free delivery pricing 8$ compared to 35$; Prime subscription pricing – 15$ compared to 100$). Amazon India is an Indian company now(in essence)…run by Indians…for the Indian consumers.

P.S. Everyone, pls don’t ignore the competing e-comm sites, Flipkart and Snapdeal once you subscribe to Amazon Prime just for the 2-day shipping. These low prices for min.delivery and Prime subscriptions will last only till Flipkart and Snapdeal exist. Nothing good has ever come out of a monopoly to the consumer.

Also, I’d advise holding on to your free trial subscription if you aren’t a chronic online shopper like me(barely 1 order/month). Use it for the holiday season or after Prime video/music services have started in India.

Exactly! I echoed the same sentiments in an earlier thread by @Magus. See: http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...

Its more relevant now that Prime members will more likely opt for free 2-day shipping ignoring a 10-50Rs. difference on competing sites. Amazon Prime, now, is just a means to further customer loyalty. But it will turn into a cash grab as and when Amazon establishes itself as a monopoly(e.g. Prime subscription cost hiked from 80$ to 100$ in U.S. recently)….and this monopoly will extend to all its forays…video streaming, music, grocery delivery, kindle, cloud storage….just bcoz of Prime subscription’s ubiquity.

they have a lot of money , so if there is some misuse or loss they cover it easily .
actually they want to gain more and more customers .

You think I’m concerned about loss to Amazon? https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif
If we misuse their offers, they will make their policies more unfriendly. In the end, we will be the losers. Haven’t we already experienced this in Flipkart’s case? That’s what concerns me more. But what does it matter what I think? Fuckers gonna fuck anyway! https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

Yeah…before any real change can be brought in the people’s mindset…they’ll be adjusting their policies anyways. In time, with increase in a standard of living we will change eventually, but I guess it will already be too late and too little.
