Does Streaming a Web-series or movie at a specific resolution (say 720p) require the same amount of data as it requires for downloading it with same resolution (720p)?
If yes, so downloading seems to be always a better option – if the full video is to be watched.
If yes, why people are crazy buying subscriptions of apps like netflix, hotstar, gaana, prime video etc.?

Isn’t it other way round that once downloaded, there is no interruption as it is stored in local media instead of being taken through internet (buffering)? So, in term of time – streaming may waste more time. Once downloaded – we can go backward, foreward, 2x speed without wastage of time and data?
Correct me, if wrong.
And what are other reasons? (apart from legality)
Subscription saves time and with little efforts you can watch anytime as per your choice, but with so many subscription services and exclusive content it will cost thousands of rupees. Downloading needs fast internet and takes time to search for content online, and almost everything is available for download. So if you r poor like me😄 download is best

Resolution is not the only deciding factor

The best part about Netflix and Prime Video..is they offer higher bitrates for their movie streams
For instance :
PrimeVideo can stream 1080p @ ~15 Mb/s
Netflix can do 4K Dolby Vision @ >25 Mb/s
JioCinema is good at times (w/ their own content) and not the shared content via SunNxt,Zee5, ErosNow
The shittiest options as of now are Zee5 and Disney+Hotstar (1000-3000 Kb/s Bitrate)..they offer very low bitrate streams, which may look fine on mobile devices but definitely not on Big sized higher resolution TVs
As far as downloading goes..you have multiple choices to make
You can download a 720p of a movie at a small size of 500mb/5gb…but for streaming (like NF and primevideo)..you don’t get to pick the quality, the system decides it based on your Network connection speed (& your display resolution)
So if you have a very limited network plan ..then Downloading is better over streaming it ( Even if you hold a premium subscription )
How to know at what bitrate a particular video is streaming at the moment?
Some are lazy/Some have the MONEY/Some find it difficult to download stuff over internet.
I prefer ‘Downloading’ than subscribing to various OTT platforms. Reason: It is FREE and you can easily get the best quality encodes of almost everything that is being streamed on Internet. On the other hand, the quality of content while streaming varies according to the speed available.
Note: When downloading, you need to have ample time available with you and some internet skills to get the best of what you want.
Telegram, Utorrent, which is the third one ?
Jo free ka hai wo sab aacha hai. 
If Netflix, Amazon Prime free main milta to yeah bhi aacha hota.. 
Amazon also gives 30 days free Prime using any CC or Select DC (Kotak, ICICI, Canara, Deutsche bank). Or 14 days without any card for select users.
I used to prefer downloading but now streaming is more suitable for me as it helps in content discovery. Also I don’t have to worry about my hard disk being filled. Anyways there is hardly any cont which you watch again…..so if anyone have fast and unlimited internet , streaming is more convenient . Moreover there are many software based on streaming the torrent directly by sequentially caching it example stremio,popcorn etc
Safety tip: avoid using bit torrent and meu torrent ,both are unsafe. Use qbittorrent which is open source and safe.
I too recommend qbittorrent, it’s FOSS and ad Free with good interface.
Time is more important than data.

I prefer streaming, as we can share the account details and share in multiple devices. Assume Prime video, which cost 250/year, if it was shared between 4 ppl. still its save lot of time in search of content and malware avoidence. the data wil be on demand.

Downloading is illegal and streaming is best, no time wasting in downloading. Streaming has no interruptions what so ever and so many other reasons.
