Can anyone help -

Does it really make much difference in electricity consumption/bills?

I tried getting an idea through various URLs at google. Seems mix replies.

Suppose if my monthly bill on AC is 5K, using 5 start AC. How much can we expect I use 2 start or 3 star AC???/

I have been using inverter air conditioners since last 2 years and here is my personal ranking based on little bit of research and having seen/used few air conditioners from these brands:

1) Mistubishi and O General
2) Daikin
3) Hitachi
4) Sharp

I am planning to buy Hot and Cold inverter AC from Mistubishi this year.

How does Panasonic and LG brands compare to the above 5 brands?

again, a personal experience based view. may differ.
.
.
Panasonic:
Product-wise they are fairly comparable to Sharp or even O General.
In India, till few months back their localised post sales service network for repairs or breakdown complaints was not as robust.

I can highley recco. their HnC model but then again, if you have the outlook and also the budget for a Hitachi and Mitsubishi then prefer those.
[although they too aren’t any less in being typical Jap. snooty behaviour if it comes to that]

Panasonic, for Indian market has turned more receptive to stand ut in consumer mind and working on filling the gaps.

Lucky Goldstar:
They were amongst the earliest chaebols to enter India. (Daewoo too entered around same time or bit earlier)

So they know the pulse better than any and have been quick learners, be it from consumer standpoint or conducting business.

LG aircons are fairly good in their core performance (never tried any of the fancy models ourselves. no idea about inverter or HnC)
They do perform in acceptable limits in most weather conditions.

some people in extremities [core Vidarbha or Delhi side (which is probably where your requirement might be)] have had some issues at times.

but in my opinion, if the pricing is right: with proper installation and timely maintenance and checks (some of it is possible for users to do it themselves): LG is a value for money option to be considered in the short-listed models.

I am going to read about Panasonic Hot n Cold aircons.

I didn’t even know that the original name of LG was Lucky Goldstar. It was such a tacky name and now they have completely redefined their image with Life’s Good. I like this brand a lot in mobiles and i read somewhere that LG higher end inverter aircons are better but i have to check that info in detail. Incidentally, I came to know only recently that there are 2 Mitsubishi groups :- Mitsubishi heavy industries and Mitsubishi electric. Only Mitsubishi heavy industries ac’s are available in my area.

I don’t know much. Bluestar is best among the Indian AC companies but i will still prefer international brands for inverter technology. If you are buying for home purpose, then definitely go for inverter ac. People who have worked in HVAC industry recommend inverter technology for both home and commercial use.

I asked local mechanics and they swear by reliability of O General. I got 15% discount locally in Punjab and went with Mitsubishi.
Also, Hitachi inverter ac’s were available at very good discount at Flipkart last week
