Which iPhone are you buying under 10k? iPhone 3gs or 4?

Anyway, here is the thing. You have 2 choices here. You can either buy a slow and outdated iPhone for 10k or you can buy a faster, powerful and latest Android phone for the same price. What would you do?

Avoid it. iPhone SE is outdated phone and majority of the apps won’t run on it because they require latest iOS.

It will also be slow AF. Apple has been caught for making their older devices slow via software update to force people in upgrading. It boosts sales on new models.

If you really want to buy a iPhone then go to the local phone market. You will get a better deal there on second hand iPhones.

iPhone SE is decently capable even now but one would be choosing that if and only if they are desperate to try iOS. It’s a pretty old device but has a capable processor even by current standards. Keep one thing in mind, like it or not, we got quite accustomed to large screens and it would be a pain to type on small screens now.

iOS has it’s own set of advantages but you can truly appreciate it (being a first time user) only when you have a decent device to begin with and not such a dated model. I suggest bumping up your budget and get at least an iPhone 7 if feasible else get the iPhone SE.

Set a realistic expectation though. What you have to judge about the OS is the tight integrations of apps and features, app store and the app catalogue quality, app usability and that’s it. Most other features are long term and are ecosystem features (software update, communication with other apple devices such as macbook etc, security, family sharing, file sharing between iOS devices) etc which cannot be made use of to the full potential without other Apple devices around (either iPhones or macbooks or airpods or ipads or whatever).

Things to keep in mind when coming from Android. There are no custom roms and hardly any customisation options compared to Android (but hey, things just work in the most optimum way, iOS is made in such a way that you can just start using it without worrying about customisation), can’t load pirated apps, you will find some wonderful apps but will be paid apps etc.

Can you please share the news about this issue of Apple slowing down the phones on purpose to make people buy new phones?

Care to read the news and find the reason before deducing your own judgement?

Apple clearly released a statement on why they have been doing it, later even pushed out a setting to disable performance throttling and even had a year long program to replace iPhone batteries at $29 as opposed to $79 that they usually charge.

Being an iPhone user for a very long time I can confirm issues with random reboots at times once the device gets old. When the battery gets old it doesn’t have the capability to pump in enough power to handle process intensive tasks that push the processor to highest extent possible (or allowed to) and at times like these the device shuts down or reboots making it annoying. To avoid such instances the performance of the device has been throttled. All it needed was a battery replacement to get the device up and running at full potential. I got my dad’s 4 year old iPhone 6’s battery replaced under the same program and it definitely had a positive impact on the way device functioned.

If what you said were true and Apple were to slow down older phones using iOS updates only to make sure people upgrade to new phones then I wonder how the device would function normal once the battery is replaced.

Doesn’t mean Apple wasn’t at fault at all. They should have made it clear to all the iOS users that such an implementation has been made in their software and also given users a choice if they want to avoid random reboots by having full performance or if they want to sacrifice the performance and ensure no random reboots happen. Well, Apple being Apple they failed to do so until they were caught and punished.

So, would appreciate if you can read the entire article and find out the reasons rather than falling for the clickbait titles. smile

Do you really expect a company this big to admit that they are deliberately involved in some unethical practices just to make more money?

They were caught by researchers and not by some competitor to defame them.

But anyway, keep believing what you believe. I had to inform people about it and now, it’s their choice if they want to believe it or not. rolleyes
