What is the best way to redeem Regalia points?
I don’t need any of the products listed in their rewards catalog http://mailer.hdfcbank.com/campaign/Asset/hdfcb...
I don’t fly, so no air tickets.
DTH/Recharge points to rupees conversion must be very poor, although I don’t know the conversion.
Is there some way to convert it to credit like AMEX?

HDFC Regalia card
Cons-
Recharge fails almost of the time.
Not any option to convert thise to Major ecommerce GV.
No Cash Credit.
Cons-
Converting to Airmiles is onlt the best Option.
But you here comes a twist
As Regalia website have few only Airmiles carrier , so just go to cleartrip & search the flights & then call customer care to book that flight. Remember if the flight carrier for that trip is not availabel in Regalia website & its available in CLEARTRIP then you can book that flight via Customer care of Regalia.
HDFC uses Cleartrip for Flight BOOKING

FINAL TIP- You don’t have any other option apart from those.

You can convert it to gift voucher, there are a lot of options, surely some of them are useful to you.

The gift voucher in rewards catalogue does not offer good conversion. It defeats the purpose of 60 paise per point conversion https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif
on top of that there is redemption charge to use it on regalia site. I cant pay 75+taxes just for recharging my dth for 200 https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif

O.6 Rs. Per point for redemption for flights, recharges etc . It will be around 25p for vouchers.

Don’t do small redemptions. I never redeem less than 5000 points.

I am not a brand person forget about those expensive brands in the catalog.
The only ones may be of any use to me could be the following

Dominos: Rs.500 for 1565 Points = 0.319
Reliance: Rs.1000 for 3005 Points = 0.332
Reliance Trend: Rs.500 for 1665 Points = 0.3
Pizza Hut: Rs.200 for 705 Points = 0.283
Sodexo: Rs.1000 for 3005 Points = 0.332

They have a 500GB hard disk for 13500 points. Even if I use 0.5 conversion, it equals to Rs.6750 https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_eek.gif What a joke?

The most I spend is on petrol and they don’t give any reward points on petrol purchase. It has become as waste of a card.

Earlier I had a Kotak Easyday card. I could use the points for money on purchase. Nice VFM card. I kept on accumulating points and one fine day Easyday got acquired by Bigbazaar. All the points were wasted. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_cry.gif

This is news to me, I see easyday outlets, are they run by bigbazaar. Even if it acquired by bigbazaar, you should have got an alternative to use your points. why wasted?

Its with most of the banks. thats why i dont redeem them for some banks and they expire. ICICI bank has been most innovative in this. They will transfer all my points to payback card and every time you redeem payback points they charge you 50 rs +taxes, even you redeem 10 points each time. they should have given option of transferring points to payback and charge only when customer transfers point to payback

As far as i know,Only amex dont charge you for redeeming the points

I mean the points didn’t go away. They said you need to upgrade your card, which had yearly fees. The previous card was lifetime free. And moreover the points system and conversion rate on the new card was crappy. So, with the points getting transferred, I would get lesser number of points, with lower conversion rate and icing on the cake yearly fees. What else would I want in life?

Yep, same case here with ICICI crooks. I was happy to redeem payback points the first time I did it. Then when I saw the monthly statement I was shocked to see getting charged for redeeming points. I mean I had paid more than I redeemed. What an irony and a way to punish the customer.

I get charged 25+ tax on redeeming payback points on ICICI, even when most of the points I earned on payback are from other sources, not from the credit card, and I had the payback card from before ICICI clubbed it with their rewards system!!

These days I wait until I have 5000 points and then redeem them at one go on MobiKwik for wallet cash .

Redemption charge is Rs.25+tax.
ICICI-Payback works well if you have a Savings acct. They give 10 payback points per RD auto-debit, max 10 debits/month. Open 10 RD of Rs.500 each and you get 1200 points annually worth Rs.300. Good enough to cover all conversion charges.

Personally, I mainly stick to Citi Cashback card and Amex.

I believe reward program for savings account has / is about to be withdrawn. Got an email on those lines a couple weeks ago.
