https://support.microsoft.com/en-GB/help/4057281/windows-7-support-will-end-on-january-14-2020
for reason/s yet not known Microsoft is redirecting the above link😠😡 to an irrelevant page when accessed from certain devices/regions.
The link/page is the same as the one Chris spoke of in the video.
Copying the address/URL text and opening it directly
does take one to the correct page.

what to do, what not to do?😟
http://youtube.com/watch?t=73s&v=JTF9wpICQ80

what are you going to do?
(Win10 UI is just not consistent and sturdy, in comparison to Win7. Not to mention the advanced skills needed to disable most of the silent processes.)

Any way to make Windows 10 look, feel and act like Windows 7?😔

Use win 10 LTSC 2019,it is basically win 10 pro minus edge/apps/app store/feature updates. It only gets security & driver updates.

well i have 4gb graphics card with AMD ryzen and 12gb ram still using Win 7 … toungueout
just bcoz win 10 runs lot of processes in background and iam unable to shut them off

Deal Cadet Deal Cadet

agree with rest of it too.
that’s exactly the point.
as for digging deep to freeze some processes
..have heard it can be done.
But i was hoping to also have my uncle’s machine run Win7 (without the risk of attacks)
and if shifting to 10, it should be simple and easy.
He is 70+ and even i don’t know what killing those processes might do.

Bro, there will be no difference even windows 7 support ends. You can continue using windows 7. Just they will stop giving security updates. In worst case, some of the websites will not support with os version. There are many government sites and profit organizations still using same version. It is very stable version. There will not be any issues, you can carryon. If you have good hardware with that version, no can stop you.  smile plus1

There is a lightweight linux operating system called “Lubuntu” for computers with very low resources. I’ve used it for quite some time in the past. Features and security updates are often provided.

I feel Windows 7 is overrated. Just try using Win10, you will get used to it.

Although Win10 is not any better, but people moves on.

thank you sir, noted.
You might have a point.
sadly i.. have a rusted mind
and too arrogantly change averse too.😔
Also, like i said, uncle too has a machine.
Though he may actually not mind Win10, if need be.
Only issue is they don’t have unlimited internet and Win10 = 😔

would tread with caution now. @limbo
as such, now i hardly want to be an ‘early adopter’ on most things tech.
and am not ashamed to learn from others’ experience/s.
(read: extensively scanning the net for such hurdles, issues as you mentioned.. and whether there is any skirting possible).

i can still deal with a naked Win 7 Ultimate (legal OEM upgrade from HP) with just a normal antjvirus, since i never use outside disks and restrict access for flash media (pen drives)

for those even older than i am, i’m in bit of a spot.
though my father has been using Win10 for routine minimal work for a while now.
only surprises were when limited internet packs suddenly depleted.
i think those auto updates were fixed by someone on his two laptops.

What would be the primary purpose of the system? If Web browsing or watching videos Lubuntu is the best bet for older systems. Of course DDR2 is now dirt cheap,DDR3 only a little less so. A memory upgrade would go really far. The biggest advantage with Puppy Linux is that it runs entirely in a RAM disk. Before I got an SSD I used Puppy Linux to gauge how much faster it could be relative to a HDD. Chrome with a dozen tabs open (plus a handful of extensions ) would launch instantly whereas in Windows running of off a HDD it would take several seconds. Still is faster than an SSD.
Edit: Just set your internet connection as Metered. This will take care of unexpected updates.

windows 10 is fine and i have installed insider privew build and set to RTM update.

and have disabled services as Black viper configuration to barebones.

not a single byte of data is wasted.

and on newer systems we can’t even install win 7, Even if we can it’s too complicated. not for everyone.

those laptops who came at time of win 7 should be kept on win 7 till laptop is alive.

the moment you install 10 it will make it die faster due to excess heating.

hmmm.. did fiddle around with an acquaintance’s Technet/MSDN builds with no surprise background uodates.
Using Insider builds might be legally fine, don’t know about MSDN ones though.

by the way, you just gave me a déjà vu moment🙂
for i was just responding to a friend who asked something about David’s video.
this video

hardware compatibility can be an issue .
most of the machines relevant to me though are dual core G630/G640 and above.
I don’t think officially MS would want anything with old RAM or less than 4GB RAM to use Windows 10.

Win 8.1 is an acceptable option, use it with classic shell/open shell to give it a win 7 like look plus start menu & it is good to go.

@nlnl776633 individuals can’t purchase win 7 extended support, only enterprises can(that too big ones, most small ones won’t be able to afford the costs).

Deal Cadet Deal Cadet

Yes sir, that is korrekt.
The third parties whom MS has handed over the baton, deal with the original buyers/licensee of the VLKs (Volume Licensing Keys).
and then too, maybe only of a certain size.
I.. coming from my low morals😔😛, was wondering if there were {{cough}} alternate ways to rig the OS.
Or to keep it clean, simple
If somehow have Compaq, HP, Toshiba help in this regards.

well Win8/8.1 too will see the sunset.
besides they are totally 😒mehh🤮.. so it’ll either have to be Win10 or do nothing.
I do have original licences for Windows Server 2003 or so, which too is fairly okay (if nothing else).
Thanks again for following up and helping out Sir _ /|\ _ 🙏

@nlnl776633 glad to help. No way to get win 7 extended support using “ahem means” as it is similar to the olden days of pirated windows where windows updates used to reveal the genuine or not status of windows. Win 8.1 extended support is till 2023,enough time to make any transitions & believe me win 8.1 in some ways is better than win 7 & older win 10 versions/latest versions without any issues.

Critic Critic

That is irrelevant for a typical person, only big enterprises with deep pockets can afford this extended security updates program & there is no other way to get it.

@Roushh @LIMBO @rogerthat one can use win 10 in forever trial mode with only restriction being a small watermark at desktop screen & not able to change wallpapers/desktop theme colours etc. Also there is a small 5mb android app on mydigitalife forums which acts as a kms server so one can have a portable activation server in their mobile & can activate any kms supporting MS software anywhere without even installing anything on pc/laptop.

BTW I just learned that… If you are using Windows 7 (even pirated) and you upgrade to Windows 10 using the Windows 10 Upgrade tool, you will receive a legitimate Windows 10 OEM key for your PC… For FREE.

So if you haven’t upgraded the OS then upgrade now and get legit Windows 10.

Deal Newbie Deal Newbie

huh!
not all pirated Win XP, 7, 8.1 copies were allowed to get updates.
MS, even if sporadically, did blacklist many MSDN/tschnet keys or VLKeys that were resold or distributed in contravention of original licences.
.
in effect, only those Installations that MS treats as worthy/okay for receiving regular security updates or call-in support might be eligible.
.
in effect, such ‘pirated’ copies of 7/8.1 aren’t being treated as pirated.. to begin with.
if MS treats (technically pirated) copies as legitimate installations, then toungueout they aren’t “pirated”. biggrin

@EliLilly MS never stopped upgrading win 7(pirated or not) to win 10 for free, they just stopped publicizing it. DAZ loader is quite famous & I think more than 90% pirated win 7 use this loader only & any DAZ loader activated win 7 upgrades to win 10 free without any issues. Btw those E5 licenses are not cheap, anyone who can afford them can surely afford the cost of win 7 extended support too or in other words only big enterprises.

I have Ryzen 5 laptop with windows 10 pre-installed with 4GB RAM, is there any way to install windows 7 on it ?

Critic Critic

No.AMD didn’t release win 7 drivers for ryzen apu. Even if they did nobody in their right mind should run win 7 on latest hardware especially after its official support ended.
