@sunnie The best time to take any multivitamin is within 15-20 minutes after a meal to ensure maximum absorption of the vitamins and minerals. So a multivitamin can be taken after breakfast or lunch.

is it dependent on the molecules or formulation type?
.
.
like Pops was initially taking metformin hydrochloride (sustained release) (brand name Glyciphage)
from few days he was also asked to continue with a similar formulation (brand name Ozomet G) but this one;
he has been asked to take 10-12 minutes before lunch.

He was told, it was for the ingredients to start breaking down and get absorbed in the blood even as you start taking the meal (blood sugars regulation).

not sure but i think some other drug or Glyciphage that he takes in the evening is still after meal

ahhh https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif ! now the topic would get the whole new twist.

I mean i am just giving myself the appreciative tap on my back for controlling myself from discussing or commenting on the merits (or demerits) of all these churan-chatni .
after-all it is not @Sunnie Leone but his boss who is taking it (or so the title and the main post say).

In short, Metformin is not a multivitamin, bro. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

In detail, diabetic patients should indeed take insulin and certain medicines before a meal for them to be effective. Metformin (glucophage), which lowers the glucose production in liver, should indeed be taken a little before or during the meal. Similarly, certain insulin formulations have predetermined peak effective periods (for example, after 30 minutes and 4 hours of injection) so they should be taken accordingly.

One other common example of a medicine which is supposed to be taken before a meal is Pantoprazole (Pan) which is used for controlling acidity.

Just to be 100% clear, my advice to take multivitamins within 15-20 minutes after a meal is applicable only to multivitamins or other food supplements. You should not apply this guideline to medicines and should always refer to your doctor’s advice for medicines.

@DealSeeker @A2Zdeals wow ! those are some new learnings (about these liver/glucose monitoring stuff).
thank you for these insights.

@DealSeeker thanks brother. yup i fully realise i passingly read it (your first response) and that it was specific to vitamin supplements only, in the context. and fully agree to the reiteration that people should not self medicate or pop pills as per their own whims, but rather take steps under guidance of qualified medical professionals only.
[ what a pity, even though I say this last line, someone in the family did at some point make it almost a ‘habit’ to pop Digene, Pan-D, Gelusil]

Appreciate you taking time off to respond.
That Metformin side-effects do not look that ignorable now i looked up more on it. :-/

OP
When its your boss (female or male) has ordered the pills (would not call amway product as medicine) obviously, he or she would be taking it. So why are you even bothered.

Best form of vitamins are fresh fruits. have them regularly and you would be healthy. Having 2-3 grams of Swertia Chirata placed in a glass of water overnight and drinking it in the morning can work wonders for diabetics.
