Hie dimers,

THIS TOPIC WILL BE LIT LENGTHY PLS DO BEAR WITH ME

I am a electrical engineer by profession, 2017 batch itself. I was working with a small co actually they were 3rd party vendors who used to get things done and deliver it to our end customers. I started working with them from 4th August 2017 since my results were also not out and for beginning i didn’t bothered about my salary which was very less as far as std ctc is concerned. Also simultaneously i was looking for another job too, Around in the month of sept last i guess i cracked another job interview and i told them i would join there on 9th october. I got my first salary on 15th sept and i had taken about 3k in advance for my personal/travel commute expenses. Since the pay in my 2nd job was partially better and it was a german mnc too, i decided to change my job!

But then after 7th oct i started giving them xyz reasons that y i cant make it up to the site which was assigned to me. Then i told them i am having health issues so for about 8-10 days i dragged the scene and after 10 days i guess i started getting calls from their project incharge and manager and finally i told MANOJ who’s the project manager that due to these health issues i wont be able to continue this work ahead.

This thing ended and as i told u on 9th oct i joined that german firm then after a month or so i had to go to a site in UP, where in my health actually was in a bad state- high fever, shivering and other stuffs somehow i booked a ticket and came back to mumbai did couple of blood tests and i was diagnosed with dengue then i was hospitalised and finally after the 4th day i got my discharge summary in hand and also they gave a huge bill to pay which was far beyond my expectations.

Took some rest at my place and again joined my office and initially for the first two week my head didn’t pressurize me to do anything but after sometime he again started telling me to goto the next site for testing/commissioning purpose but since i had hardly recovered i again told him i need sometime but he refrained me in doing so. So once again i had to leave that co too he did pay me a very small ammt from my salary {after deducting hell lot of things}.

In all this procedure i didn’t follow up with my first co for my 2nd month’s pay, now from the last week when i started following up she(HR/owner’s spouse) told me to clear my expenses since i had taken abt 3k. In that i had to utilised hardly 700rs for a serial converter which was needed for work and left with 1.3k. She said you were on probation since u left before that period we wont pay you now that’s it.

Now shes saying consider that ammt only as YOUR total due which was left out and i was like https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_rolleyes.gif https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_cry.gif

i felt bad after working for them for about 2 months this is what i got in return. i know the world is cruel but i was not expecting this.

The money which i had i already invested in my demat. Now i am hardly left with some small ammt in my bank.

Gave several interviews in my past but none of them clicked actually!

My dad still tells me to work for any xyz job later on they them will guide you to the proper job you want to, But i want to stick with my engg job itself.

Trying some freelancing stuffs too, monitoring share mkt and sending my resume each and every possible org.

Now is there any chances getting my pay back in any circumstances ? or any kind of suggestions regarding anything related to this topic.
Your suggestions will be appreciated.

dont you think you should be more focus on your carrier ahead, rather than what happened with 1st company. No amount is small but still you can earn it later rather than wasting time in following up and stressing yourself.
And why stock market, isnt it totally out of field. Dont get into it just because currently you are not able to find better job, unless you are interested.
Things will take time but will improve.

Actually i am into this field from several years in which i am quite interested too, so that is only left out.
but i am thinking to sell out everything i have and march on!

Things will take time but will improve- This is what my dad tells me. I’ll rather wait for sometime and look out for a job which is really competitive where my income will be better.

Lets see. Hope for the best.

why sell out everything, if investment is giving good returns then hold it.

on carrier aspect, look for the job where you want to settle in rather income, that will always increase once you excel in your profile.

yea my portfolio is in green but ya i too know the fact that this silly move will make me regret later.

As far as my job is concerned, everyone wants experienced candidates, still i haven’t left hunting them!

Don’t waste your time n energy in thinking how to recover the dues in the old company. Look ahead now on what can you do.

If I could advise, try for your core domain jobs or jobs of your interest. Whatever it is, make sure you are clear of the role expectations, salary, T&C etc before you jump in this time.

If you want to go into the stock market oriented jobs, try to see if you can get into some analyst position with borkerages etc (again be clear of your role n salary). You can further evolve in this role with additional courses/certifications.

Also, do consider the option of whether you want to study further (master’s or another domain – e.g. IT as everyone probably suggests) and pursue it seriously.

@JJrocks consider yourself a lucky person because @bumblefoot read and replied to your long query.. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif
I think you need to relax and think over, you really sound stressed out.
I think your decision of looking for a job in engg sector is correct but if you get one just stick to it for sometime say 2 yrs and then look for a change.
Hopping jobs doesn’t make your resume look good.
And invest in shares/MFs only if you have good knowledge of the market and only if you have enough earnings to do so. Bad investments and incomplete knowledge can lead to huge losses. So take the risk only if your earnings negate your losses.
And always be happy and positive in life, never loose hope https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

No need to get distressed for just a one month salary, you are in your early 20’s yo have your whole life ahead of you, this is just a starting,Never work for a small Lala companies(companies which are fully managed by family members).

First thing you should do right now is look for the jobs in the field which you are really interested working on,even if the pay is small at the end experience & learning will matter, many friends on mine worked for a smaller pay in small companies but gained a massive experience compared to those who joined MNC’s right after college, now they are working in good companies with very good pay, some later started their own companies also. Also learn to build good relations with every employer of yours and everyone you meet while working, this contacts will help you in future.

Regarding the investment part.

Keep the 4 or more months of your salary amount safe in bank, because anything can happen like health issues, fired from job etc(that money will come in rescue at that time).

After this keep aside a specific sum of money for investment purpose every month.Investment is also a learning process,Never invest your whole savings in one thing.Learn to diversify your portfolio.

Very well said. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif In engineering field experience matters a lot, seldom companies hires fresher’s. Without experience it’s hard very hard. First just work for a good 2-3 years, gain experience and knowledge. Just don’t panic, don’t take decisions in a rush. And you’re not you have not got under heavy debts, it’s a small amount. Why are you, thinking to sell everything. Are your medical bills n everything clear now?. @JJrocks

Instead of giving random interviews, first prepare yourself and have that competitive skills.

Forget that amount you never get paid by that co.

Move on bhai, every aspect of life (bad/good) carry some message with it…

Regarding stock market, never take decisions in hurry, forget that investment for 2-3 months and focus on your new job or building your self worth.

All the best for your future https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

A lot of companies exploit the candidate and circumstances. Convergys BPO (gurgaon) didn’t pay approx. Rs 5000 of my salary when I quit. I was also jobless back then. So that 5000 meant a lot to me. It was hard but I moved on. World is like this.

1. Forget the salary and move on. Put your feedback about that company online on any social networking site. It will help others stay away and be cautious.
2. If your money needs are urgent (no money even for food etc at home), join any job for now and simultaneously look for job specific to your expertise.
3. If your money needs aren’t urgent, keep looking for jobs where your interest lies. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll have a life long career in that field. Sometimes your destiny will put you in another field, totally irrelevant. A lot of people go through this. In fact, this happens with majority. So, don’t feel bad even if you don’t get any job in your field. God may have different plans for you.
4. At the start of professional career, lot of people make these mistakes and learn. I also did a lot and learnt my lessons. I didn’t even collect experience certificate for few companies I worked for at the beginning of my career. Can you believe that?

Life still goes on…
Sorry for gyaan..

Investment(long term) in stock market is a parallel one and does not effect your job or interviews.
Just spend 10-15 minutes in the morning, subscribe for alerts if particular stocks hits target or place limit order in the morning.
One day in your career you will have to start investing in stocks as that is the best option available.
So don’t sell in hurry.
As others mentioned you must move on forgetting that money.
If amount you lost to company is more you can move the court, normally companies don’t like to be dragged into media for bad reasons so they might settle things immediately out of court.
Keep cool. Perhaps everyone is cheated someday.
Hope you recovered fully now
Good luck
